One of the few things that perplexed me was the Fex mentioned in an interview and the fact they don't appear at all. No codex explained them and nobody brings them up, was this just something dropped from production or was it never meant to be. Right now I'm convinced that it was just a white lie or snarky comment on David's part but if someone could confirm this for me I'd be grateful.

Fex are real. They live on Par Vollen if I remember correctly. Haven't gotten around to reading DA2 codex yet so I can't say if they appear there.
