First, what I feel may be the root of this problem... I found the look of my created character to be unsatisfactory (as well as Bethany's short hair) and so I used the Mirror of Transformation upon my arrival in Kirkwall. As is supposed to be the case, the look of my family changed as I altered my own appearance. Once I was happy with my appearance as well as Bethany's, I continued on with the game until the point that I reached the end of Act 1. I took Bethany and Anders into the Deep Roads with me.
In the scene where Bethany falls sick, she had mostly reverted back to the original look she had before I used the Mirror (aside from her obvious signs of being sick). Her hair was even short again. Unless she always gets a haircut in the Deep Roads, I have to assume this is a glitch, right?

this does look to be an issue of changing your characters look via the mirror, I didn't change my look at all and that cutscene had the correct look for both characters. Hopefully this can be fixed in a patch
