no, but I found it best to put some points into archery as well as dual wield.
depends on your playstyle, but I use ranged attacks quite a bit, but then I get in close with daggers on petrified bosses for max assassinate damage

You know Assasinate is based on your weapon damage, so using it with a Bow will always do more damage than doing it with an equal quality Dagger, right?

Even so, switch for "doing more damage" is fruitless. If they do comparable damage, by switching you lost a bit of Auto Attack damage from moving to melee. Net loss.Kazoot wrote...

i have never seen screenshots of 100k+ damage for bow assassinate.
I saw one with daggers on Orsino for 144k damage (89k + 55k in the other hand).
I don't think it's possible for bow assassinate to ever do that much damage, even with the most powerful bows.
In general I have found with bosses, bow assassinate seems to do quite a bit less damage, I've only managed to one-shot lieutenants with bows, but I have one-shotted a number of elite-level bosses with daggers.
The bow i'm using is Felon's Punch Gut 86 dmg + 22 spirit dmg rune IIRC, with some crit bonuses.
The daggers I'm using are Coterie Shiv and another dagger - I think damage is around 30-35 for each one, plus crit bonuses.

The Strongest bow does around three times as much damage as the strongest dagger per hit. If you get two hits from the dagger, it still doesn't beat it. http://www.gamepur.c...ions-guide.html

I'll certainly do some testing to try to determine the highest crit I can get with a bow.
Please post here if you have some results.
I suspect there is some other mechanic in play that results in higher crits for daggers.

Unforgiving Chain specifically says basic melee attacks.
