I like to respec for different parts of the game but I don't want 5 or six extra points and 3 Specialisations each time I do it. Any way to debug that?

I've never managed to get an extra Specialization Point from using the Sigh's.

But, no, until Bioware patch it, its broken.

But as far as I know, its only broken, if you
1. Drink the sigh.
2. Save
3. Reload
4. Sigh again

If you use the Points before saving, then it shouldnt be bugged.

Only happens when you use it, save, then load while you've not used any of the talent points you have unassigned, I was led to believe. That seems to be how it worked for me, too, though that was more chance than anything else. Ended up with 3 extra points I just stuck into abilities I don't ever use. I think that if you just don't save and reload inside the emporium, you'll be fine.

I've had it bug on me and give me extra specialization points without any of the obve happening. It seems very random.

I know for a fact the abilities you receive are tied to the bottom-most save. I tested this bug six times in a row on my mage one time, and I kept getting pyromancer out of nowhere every time I saved and reloaded. I noticed that this was the last talent I chose on that file so I used the xp glitch to test this theory by leveling to lvl 7 to unlock a specialization. Sure enough, I had pyromancer alongside an extra specialization point and the first talent in the force mage tree.

I read somewhere that if you put all your potions in your stash at home it wont bug. There is a thread about this somewhere on the forum.

^ as stated if you drop all your potions into your holding box and use the Maker's Sigh it will not glitch. For now that is a work around that does work, and allows you to us it as you wish.

So... let me get this straight. There is a bug that gives you more Ability points and Spec points and some of you want it fixed. Lol lol lolz. Ya know, usually people exploit the hell out of glitches like this such as cloning equipment in KotOR and Oblivion or infinite XP in DAO. I mean I like to play fair, though sometimes its great just to mess around.

It hollows your achievements when you know that you cheated to get them. Sure some people don't care, but many people do.

The glitch also negatively impacts you like the Isabela/Sebastion glitch. If you do this and receive passive abilities, every time you use the Maker's Sigh, save, then reload, and receive extra talents if they're passive, you'll actually LOSE the benefits of the talent every time you do this. I'll post what I posted in a topic similar to this earlier:

The glitch only happens if you save then reload immediately after respeccing as that's also how you get the free talents. Sadly, I experimented with this while having the Pyromancer passive upgrade on my mage and it dropped my fire damage by 25% every time. I did it about 6 times and it got to the point that my fire attacks would do nothing against enemies on casual......

That's just the easiest way to abuse it. The game seems to pick certain skills as you learn them as permanent, and you'll regain them after reload if you didn't spec back into them.  I couldn't respec out of pommel strike, mighty blow, scythe, giant's reach, or reaver on my warrior. If I didn't make sure to retake all of those, whether I wanted them or not, I'd end up with extra skill points and specializations.

Interesting, and really odd. Shame respeccing on the fly is still out of the question if you don't want to become more powerful.

I think it has to do with tactics as well - because if you empty all tactics fields for abilities in the specialisations you don't get more specialisations points then you normaly would.

It doesn't. I tested the tactics by placing Petrify in the list in more than one slot and I never received it upon reloading. It is definitely tied to the save in the bottom-most slot, auto-saves included.

I think the skills it gives you back, for free, are the ones you get during tutorial etc, at the begining of the game.
Eg - I got Fireball and the Ice Spell for free in tutorial,
As such, everytime you respec, it takes these away,
then when you re-load, it gives those abilities back, but you can respec again, to add those back to the pool of unspent ability points.
So far I havent noticed any relationship to the location of the saveslot etc on my game.
I've always either re-used the same save slot, or saved a new game on a new slot etc. Always reproduced.

1. Head home, and put ALL of your "usable items" (potions) in your stash, except for the ONE Maker's Sigh you'll be using.
2. Save the game just to be sure.
3. Drink the potion, redistribute your talents.
4. Save in a DIFFERENT slot.
5. Load that save, then retrieve all your potions.
6. Save again (overwrite the second save), and re-load again.
7. Double check that you haven't retained any extra talents.
8. Success! I hope.

This is the way I solved it. So now my Mage is finally respec-bug-free. :wizard:

Does this get rid of any of the passive penalty's that you may have built up throughout the game? I definitely tried the free points bug a couple times but regret it a lot if this bug actually reverses any passive bonuses ..

it hollows them to me more when they don't work like all of sebastions for the xbox of which I got and nothings popping. It's 130 pts I do believe I have 'f'ed'
