I haven't heard of anyone else complaining of this, so maybe it is just me.
On PC, I find it hard to get area of effect spells to cast. Half the time the circle or arc appears but nothing happens. It seems I have to have an active target in order to cast? It is really, really annoying and making mage gameplay so tedious.

Addai, you don't have to have an eligible target. You can also target an empty area and then lure enemies within. Just make sure that the cursor is gold and not grey and you're good to go!

Yea the gold color cursor is key. Also try a fully zoomed out view. Somtimes that helps to cast the spell giving you a better line of sight of the where you want to cast it.

Not just you, targeting is really iffy. Some locations are simply not eligible to be cast on for whatever reason. There's usually a spot right next to where you want to hit though that's close enough so I'm not that bothered by it. But there's definatly something. I get a feeling it's about elevation, and perhaps some wonky issue with the line of sight code.

I knew you needed a gold cursor but I don't know why or what makes the cursor change gold to grey and back. It ends up for a lot of fiddling while my allies carry on without me.
And I'm really missing the iso camera.

Ahh but since DA2 was made for consoles in mind the camera wouldn't just work on consoles, so they just took it out.
