Raise your hand if you think DA2 should be retconned from canon

As such, I agree Bioware should stop dumbing its game down and try to relink with actual RPG concepts, but I don't see the point of trying to retcon anything from the story;

Edit: There's also a complete disconnect between the combat scene and the non-combat scenes, as your super-hero Hawke just seems like a completely normal guy when running around town... It turns into a Popeye moment as soon as he sees an enemy however.
Reading the books, you get no impression of super-fast combat with 100's of enemies raining down on the heroes. I just cannot believe this is what Gaider had in mind when writing those books.
You run into so many Revenants, rage demons, desire demons, golems, dragons, and kill them with such lightning speed that you become numb to it. They appear with no plot elements, no mention of their rarity and no shock at their appearance. Exact same thing with blood magic...
Also, DA2 completely removed all mention of Shrieks and Genlocks. These are supposed to be the elf and dwarf darkspawn corruptions... Why have they disappeared? They're very important to the lore.
So, yeah... I honestly do wish they would pretend that the game was non-canon, or that Varric essentially exaggerated the entire thing, because otherwise each subsequent DA is going to have to match this idiocy or 'take it to the next level' for it to seem like you have a strong protagonist.

And truly I believe it's a smidge more believable that you kill things faster.
You're setting people ablaze, freezing, shocking, making them fall asleep in the midst of battle, swinging your blade on their heads...

The things that made DA2 a bad game - hack and slash combat, recycled maps, rushed production - has nothing to do with DA lore.

I think its due to the general lack of scope. Its basically Grand Theft Auto. Sure you become "the champion" but I felt that was insignificant next to the role played in prior games (any of them). It felt like I was raiden instead of solid snake? That a good comparison?
Companions were well done, even if some annoyed the hell out of me, which hey probably qualifies as decent writing anyway.
It wasn't awful, just very forgettable.

The critical minority of the fanbase can moan and complain all it wants too, but at the end of the day, the game has already sold 2 million plus copies, and will probably sell a couple million more. Every customer that Bioware loses from the hardcore RPG folks will be replaced by one or two from the more casual action gamers. You can't please everyone, but you can please enough people to make a healthy profit.
The response to this game has soured me not on Bioware, but on the fan community itself. As a general rule, most of it makes me embarrassed to call myself a gamer.

Why don't you simple ignore this game and let it die of abandon? (like devil may cry 2, mortal kombat: earth's special forces, fallout: brotherhood of stell, etc)
Ps: That doesn't mean that I hate this game, I enjoyed a lot playing it.
Pss: If you think "Why this guy says that he played the game but he doesn't have it registered?" is because I play it on xbox and the Live services isn't avaiable in my country (Arg.) and believe me, is pain in the @ss

Well.. My opinion is that DA 2 was the same to Dragon Age franchise as Fallout: BoS was to the Fallout franchise. A black sheep of the family that nobody wants to talk about.
This.
But we all know that slapping the name "Dragon Age" upon a sub-par adventure game made it sell better. So it´s an understandable decision from a commercial point of view.

Yes. Totally agreed. Instead, DA2 should all be a dream of the same Grey Warden from Origins (he/she is brought back through a magical ritual if they died in the first game) before he/she must slay the new blight but with TWO archdemons this time. However, before our hero slays the two arch demons, he/she must enlist the help of some Dalish elves, some humans, and some dwarves again, but even before that, our Warden must embark on a journey to re-recruit Sten, Leliana, Zevran, Shale, Alistair (who will no doubt suspend his duties as king if you left him as ruler), your dog, and Wynne. Morrigan will also reappear to join your party.
DA2.5's going to be great!
Boy, that sounds like a lot of work. Maybe we could all just go play Origins again? But, no, just like any sequal, when it comes onto the market the original bursts into flames, and becomes unusable to all.

Somebody roll out the whaaambulance!
Because the idea of retconning the game is probably the most retarded idea anyones had since Hitler attacked Russia before the Western front had been secured.

-or-
Disown fans who demand games to be tailored to their preference and maybe make more money by appealing to new customers
I dunno, if I were running the company... I would probably choose option 2.

A very poor effort from Bioware, all around. I got the impression the concept was hastily thrown together and was never given time to develop, because EA wanted to push a product out the door.
Read this, developers: We are not stupid. We know what you are doing. We know what EA is like. Stop trying to emulate Twilight-models that produce more money than sensible artistry or respectable designs.
