I hear Aveline most often crying for stamina draughts: "I can't keep this up!"
Since the sound effects are so loud, and I play a mage, I mostly miss what my warriors are saying... but Varric always makes up for that

How do you get those? Do you have to have the LI selected when Hawke dies?

I'm sure most of you figured this out, but there are different volume settings for different stuff. If all the other volumes are min and only dialogue is maxed, it's pretty easy to hear what they are saying. If this helps one person I won't feel so bad about being miss obvious here

As for battle cries, I'm fond of "Somebody needs a spanking!" Three guesses who.

I tested it deliberately. Went into a room full of enemies, turned off ambient music and sound effects, with only the LI and Hawke, set the LI to immortal and let 'em have at her. I did have the LI selected, but I can't say if that's necessary to trigger the line.

Holy crap no kidding >_<  I really didn't want to but damn... I'm going back to my last playthrough and let myself bite it just to hear that!  (I never die... needs must remedy that.)

Isn't it great? That's how he actually sounds in game, too. I'd hazard to guess they use computer-automated voices as place-holders for testing purposes until the line is voiced...and I that line never got voiced.

Thanks for those battle cries, Saibh. I never get killed (which would be a lot more impressive if I didn't always play on casual) so I hadn't heard any of them. When I heard they had specific lines I tried forcing my companions to say something by letting myself die, but for some reason it never worked.

I found Isabela's battle banter.

The entirety is quite sizable though... here are some of the highlights:

When teammates fall:
Anders!
Bastards took out Aveline!
Should've stayed back, little sister.
Watch Carver! He's down!
Oh, he's not going to be happy when he wakes up!
Merrill! Oh, blood mages are so dramatic.
Varric's out! Bianca's going to be disappointed!
Hawke's down! Time to panic!
Heh! Not so tough now, are you?
Don't you die on me!
Oh, you'll pay for that!

Taunting:
You hit like an Orlesian dandy!
Come on! You want some of this?
Run home while you still can!

Near Death:
Don't mind me. It's just a flesh wound.
I could use some bandages or a strong drink.
Didn't you say this would be easy and <emp>painless</emp>?
I'm all right. Who needs kidneys anyway?
Why do I keep getting into these scrapes?

Postfight:
We work well together.
I'm glad I don't have to clean up this mess.
Let this be a lesson to future generations.
And they say violence doesn't solve anything.
I can't take credit for all of this. Hawke helped a little bit.

Postfight, recovering from KO:
