Hi, I am 25 years old guy and I usually play FPS games such as Half-Life, Team Fortress 2 and I really respect Valve since 1998. I knew that BioWare was (still is) very popular with its RPGs, but this genre wasn't for me because you have to read a lot of texts in order to understand story and so on. So I thought. One day i found Mass Effect on illegal torrent site and it changed my opinion about RPGs. It was plenty of action and had beatyfull story, wich you could change. Game had very interesting characters, even romance. That made a big imact on me since I am still sensitive. I considered this game one of my favorites and beat it twice. Also I bought it in respect for BioWare.

Three days ago I finished Dragon Age: Origins and it blew my mind. Even now I feel embarrassed... I can't and don't want to play any other game. OMG, I was so connected to my player and Morrigan... I cried when she left, I cried when the ending said that she sometimes thinks of my player and regrets leaving him. Jesus... This game was the first that made me cry, feel sadness, revenge, even... Now I'm waiting for the sequel or DLC. I just really want to see Morrigan one more time and hear her explanations about such decision :( Oh, I'm buying it with no doubts. I just need to express my thanks to BioWare.

And don't  say  "get a life". I have a girlfriend and job. And don't blame me I try games illegaly at first, then buying them. ME and DA:O are in my list.

I'm glad that the OP enjoyed the game so much. Just goes to show that the "neanderthals who play FPS's and who wouldn't even like RPG's to begin with!" maybe doesn't hold true for everyone, hmm? ;)

Moving this over to the spoiler forum.

Err, excuse me, I play FPS games and certainly am not a 'Neanderthal'.  I am in fact a well ordered former soldier and a grandad of a beautiful 12 year old girl.  I retired early and love playing many genre of games, including MMO's and RPG.s as well as my love for FPS games.  And currently I am enjoying this game too.  Must say I'm a little surprised to see the above kind of remark coming from a Bioware represenative.

I was referring to things other people have said -- hence the quotes.

There were some people who claimed, at one point, that it was fruitless trying to appeal to "FPS-playing neanderthals" because they would never actually enjoy an RPG that they were "tricked" into playing.

Regardless of what one thought of the attempt to appeal, I'm glad to see at least one example of that sort of generalization not holding true.

According to this thread alone, there seems to be at least two people.

Three, if you count myself (I love the Half-Life series in particular :P) heehee.

Yes, let's cut the talk of software piracy, please. That is not permitted here.
