Glad you liked it and decided to buy it.

Except he didn't. Notice the lack of registered games.

Isn't there like a big problem currently where a lot of people's registered games just don't appear?

Notice he said he still hasn't purchased ME though he's beaten it twice. How long ago did that game come out?

Maybe calling him a jerk was out of line but still, this is the reason the rest of us have to put up with **** DRM.

Cya later you'll get a ban you just admitted illegaly downloading a game.

Well aren't you a dong.

Back to the OP, I whole-heartedly agree and am glad you enjoyed it as you did. I've gotta admit... I sorta felt the same way with the ending. Also got connected to Morrigan [though not so much my char; I have like 30 of them].
But now I could care less about the dumb ****. Little ****.

Just goes to show that the "neanderthals who play FPS's and who wouldn't even like RPG's to begin with!" maybe doesn't hold true for everyone, hmm? ;)

Err, excuse me, I play FPS games and certainly am not a 'Neanderthal'.  I am in fact a well ordered former soldier and a grandad of a beautiful 12 year old girl.  I retired early and love playing many genre of games, including MMO's and RPG.s as well as my love for FPS games.  And currently I am enjoying this game too.  Must say I'm a little surprised to see the above kind of remark coming from a Bioware represenative.

He put the neanderthal bit in quotation, lol.  Meaning I think he was quoting someone/something rather than directly calling people that play FPSes cavemen.

I'm pretty sure he was mocking a sterotype, not calling FPS players neanderthals. I know sarcasm doesn't transfer well online but come on...

That's not important. What's important is what ISN'T a dong. And that would be things like cake and stuffed animals.

Hi, I am 25 years old guy and I usually play FPS games such as Half-Life, Team Fortress 2 and I really respect Valve since 1998. I knew that BioWare was (still is) very popular with its RPGs, but this genre wasn't for me because you have to read a lot of texts in order to understand story and so on. So I thought. One day i found Mass Effect on illegal torrent site and it changed my opinion about RPGs. It was plenty of action and had beatyfull story, wich you could change. Game had very interesting characters, even romance. That made a big imact on me since I am still sensitive. I considered this game one of my favorites and beat it twice. Also I bought it in respect for BioWare.

Three days ago I finished Dragon Age: Origins and it blew my mind. Even now I feel embarrassed... I can't and don't want to play any other game. OMG, I was so connected to my player and Morrigan... I cried when she left, I cried when the ending said that she sometimes thinks of my player and regrets leaving him. Jesus... This game was the first that made me cry, feel sadness, revenge, even... Now I'm waiting for the sequel or DLC. I just really want to see Morrigan one more time and hear her explanations about such decision :( Oh, I'm buying it with no doubts. I just need to express my thanks to BioWare.

And don't  say  "get a life". I have a girlfriend and job. And don't blame me I try games illegaly at first, then buying them. ME and DA:O are in my list.

i think it's fantastic that you discovered these games and enjoy them so much. welcome to the fold.  ^_^

now, dont pirate games ever again. <_<

What's with the complaints over spoliers?

Isn't there this huge ass post put up saying that "if you do not want spoilers do not read threads in here?

It's a spoiler sub-forum, naturally you assume there will be spoilers! *shocking, i know*

It got moved. from general.

It took me almost a week before any of my codes were considered valid on the site. Hell, I got 3 CDKeys and I don't even know where one of them is supposed to go.

He took someone's idea and presented it as his own and then made money off of it? Cause that's what stealing an IP actually is. Now, he may have broken copyright, but that does not mean he STOLE their IP. Not to mention that unless he uploaded an entire copy of what he downloaded it's unlikely a US court would find him guilty even of that. Hard to say, of course, since the case law has by no means firmed up in either direction. Of coruse if that evil, vile ACTA treaty gets signed and ratified that might change.

I buy all of my games, but to be fair I understand people who don't and personally feel let down when I realise that paying for stuff actually puts me at a disadvantage. I'm sure an illegally appropriated copy of Dragon Age wouldn't require me to be online to play it, for example. I paid for all available DLC (which is not really worth the money) and now I can't play without an internet connection anymore. I still pay for stuff because I'm chaotic good in real life too, but the thought processes of those who do not are not entirely foreign to me thanks to dung like this.

NWN was my first bioware game. I loved the game and I've essentially bought all the other bioware products (as well as expansions). I own several copies of NWN (diamond, gold, as well as the individual expansion sets), and also KOTOR, Mass effect on PC as well as consoles.

It's just too bad you can't register all your games on these forums like you can on the other bioware forums. I'm a proud owner of all the bioware games out there and one can only be amazed by the quality of the content (despite sometimes the lack of graphics).

I liked dragon ages buuuuuuuuuuuut I look forward to Mass Effect 2 because I preferred Mass Effect character interaction (Shepard actually talking back instead of just picking text options).

I was referring to things other people have said -- hence the quotes.

There were some people who claimed, at one point, that it was fruitless trying to appeal to "FPS-playing neanderthals" because they would never actually enjoy an RPG that they were "tricked" into playing.

Regardless of what one thought of the attempt to appeal, I'm glad to see at least one example of that sort of generalization not holding true.

i can't understand, that game series bored me out of my mind. i like some valve games too.
like:
Portal
CS
EP1
EP2
L4D
TF2

but half life 1 and expansions + HL2 are just too boring and slow for shooters.

i myself much prefer a game of civ 1,3 or 4
a run through Baldur's Gate Trilogy with ascension (thanks mr gaider) a year
some rounds of L4D a week and some MW2 this weekend.
i also like fallout 1 and 2 alot. Mass Effect is on hold for now.

am i weird? a broadminded gamer or a narrowminded gamer? DR. web-Phil. tell me.

This is not the first game to do this to me. I too was taken back a bit by this game and a very very good writing team. Also the designers did a fantastic job of inter-weaving all the NPCs and making it feel like a group. Baldurs Gate 2 also had this.

I have never pirate a Bioware game for the record. I own alot of em though :P

so are you an FPS neanderthal if you've been playing both FPSs and RPGs for 10-15 years?

I'm curious if I am just by association.

I liked what the OP said and im glad there is FPS players out there with open enough minds to break their tradition. Sadly for every 1 of these there seems to be 1000 that just bad mouth RPGs on point with out ever trying it.

Cant say DAO brought me to tears, but it did get me doing that "sniffle sniffle" type thing a couple times. Its almost the perfect fantasy game, almost. Honestly im surprised the OP liked DAO as he admits he doesnt like RPGs that make him read and the amount of reading is the draw back in this game for even a grizzled vetran of RPGs like me. I honestly found the sheer amount of reading to be to much and ended up skipping a large portion of codex and quests write ups (still did the quests, just didnt read why).

Lastly, Im sorry but I cant forgive the OP for using illegal downloads! One of the reasons we pay so much for these blasted games is because of people like him that "Im only trying before buying". Thats what ads and preveiws are for, why should you be more special then the rest of us? OP is like that kid that admits he stole the car and wants a walk because he admitted it. Society doesnt work that way and I hope Bioware does give him the perm ban for his actions. Fan or not.
