If Lilianna can survive an pair of short swords looping her head off, Duncan can survive.

It just depends on the fancy of the next story writer.

Duncan dying at the Ruins of Ostagar is something that happens regardless of the choices a player makes, so it can be considered canon. Leliana on the other hand, she never has to die, so her appearance during the Faith quest is infinitely more plausible than Duncan returning from the dead.

yeah, in fact ive known many a people who played through origins multiple times and none of them ever killed leliana. so i really dont mind her being retconned into living since well she lived in every single one of my playthroughs and every playthrough of everyone i know.

I'd be rather disappointed if he was alive. No offense to the character, but a death should be a death.

This...

Seriously this is Dragon Age... Not Dragon Ball Z.

I just bought the two Dragon Age books.  I haven't started reading it but one of them has Duncan in it if you want some more Duncan awesomness :D

Bringing back Duncan would have to include some kind of convoluted Gandalf type rebirth. Duncan could be known as a White Warden.

When I heard about a Grey Warden refugee I was all pumped for Oghren, Valenna, Nathaniel or Sigrun. Then it was just Anders and I was like oh... :(

Not to stretch the realm of possibility, but was his body ever seen? All I saw was a darkspawn with an axe ready to cleave him in two until suddenly, the screen turned white. Sure, we can deduce that he died, but we actually never see if someone intercepted the blow.

Nevertheless, they at least provided him some background in The Calling. It gives him more depth than what was only shown in the game.

Well, seems to me like he got the top 50% of his head cut off and had his brain and innards devoured by Darkspawn... But optimism is never bad Image IPB And I think Gryphons are going to have to show up eventually. Come on, it's an RPG, we've seen the "nearly extinct" High Dragons a few times, why not the "Thought to be extinct" gyphons?

It's not like they have much to go by. "Hey, bud, you seen any gryphons lately?" "Nope, neither has my brother." "Damn, they must be extinct!"

HAH! I'd be cracking up too much to give a **** about probability, I wouldn't mind that one bit.

Sorry to say but Duncan is indeed in the land of the dead. He obviously got an axe to his head and was made darkspawn dinner

Duncan is dead. It was to give the PC a sense of loss than just the death of the king. It also was to truly justify Alistair's crying attitude than just losing some pals he knew. Duncan basically saved your character's life just like he saved Alistair. He was ready to die anyway according to Alistair, he was already getting the really bad nightmares that would have him leave to the deep roads.

Gray Wardens can't be Dark Spawn. The Dark Spawn really didn't like him. Supposedly even his fire pit that spent most of his time was extra desecrated because they could sense him there apparently. They would have burned or cut him up into extra tiny bits to make sure they'd never see him again. I doubt they'd even eat the body of a tainted grey warden. Maybe he became food for another brood mother to make sure he was really gone?

He is just playing with us all you see ? We are all living in Duncan's world where he pull the strings. If you are nice enough, he will bless you with his awesomeness

There is the proof :

Bioware could troll us for all we know. I do think it is suspicious that there is no body. Oh Duncan's weapons are still in that Ogre's body, but his corpse seems to have..vanished. I do think Duncan somehow survived and the taint fully worked its course. We'll happen upon the Ghoul Duncan one of these days...

His body being gone isn't unusual. The darkspawn take all the dead bodies. They even put the kings body up as a symbol for any living humans who could have survived the battle. They hung bodies in the wilds as well. Alistair even refered to it as excessive.

Yeeess... swooping is bad! I lol'ed at that vid xD

Was seriously dissapointed when the warden was Anders too... I would've preferred any of them to him.

Would be seriously badass if Duncan did come back, but I'm in the frame of mind that he is worm food now. and I am praying more for my Warden to return!

My Warden is off with Morrigan and their son. Apparently Alistair is now back in Fereldon mooching off Teagan. That is right. Fereldon's King and Hero of Fereldon ditched his entire Kingdom for Morrigan and their demi-god'ish child.

Go hard or go home.

WAIT it just occurred to me! Flemeth saved the warden and allister so it doesnt mean she could not have saved duncan! lets be honest she can turn into a dragon also she had grey warden documents to being with so definitely flemeth is involved with the wardens some how!

Flemeth saved who she saw the futures of most likely. Though in the case of meeting hawke she first questions if it was fate or just chance for that go around. She held on to the documents because it would be handy. She also seemed far more aware that it truly was a blight. Probably saw the future that was coming of it. When she meets the hero of fereldon she then just has to tell herself if she believes it or not.

She left Duncan to die as with the king. She needed the Hero of Fereldon to live and destroy the arch demon. She needed Morrigan to be there when it happened. She trained Morrigan for it infact. She just had to decide if it was all going to happen as she first meets the PC. Just like with Hawke.

What DA3 will have in for the PC in regards to Morrigan and Flemeth? Who knows. It's interesting anyway. Morrigan having a son who has the soul of an old god in him. Flemeth and what ever she is planning? Well, we will have to see.
