Yes, "a bit of a ******" fits him perfectly. It was refreshing seeing such a character, specifically as a companion. To bad they rip him away from you so quick.

Aveline put it best, he's grown tired of caring for others. And since childhood he's felt as if he's been forced to stay in your shadow.

I liked his character.

He´s an idiot. He´s always complaing "Ooooh i´m in your shadow noone loves me" and then I take him along and I´m like "hey I kinda love you, in a brotherly way and stuff" and then he responds with "But it´s always you who decide noone loves me!!!!" and then I´m like "you got a plan?" and he´s like "NOOOO WHAT SHALL WE DO I CAN´T CLEAN MY ASS ALONE DO IT FOR ME BWAAAHAAAHAAA"

When I started playing as my mage, I knew Carver would be the one to survive the ogre encounter. I wasn't very fond of him from the get-go, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt anyway to see if I would grow fond of him. I didn't. When I didn't take him with me into Deep Roads, he joins the Templars and disappears for the rest of the game. He only reappears briefly in the final act and the final fight, and when the game ends, you do not even see him and get no closure to your relationship, which has been sore the entire game. A very wasted opportunity tbh.

The tension between Hawke and Carver is probably one of the best and most realistic things about DA2.

QFT. Carver is, hands-down, my favorite from DA2.

If they had dyed his hair black, he would've probably been the biggest emo in gaming. I'm hard-pressed to find any redeeming qualities in his character. He's a good dps, but story-wise he has little to offer.

I had pretty much the exact opposite thing happen to me. I grew very fond of him and actually got a little choked up when I sent him off to join the wardens. Then he came back at the end and had grown up a bit and let go of some of his hostility. He rejoined the group and happily fought at my side. I felt there was great closure.

Fenris and Anders are both douche bags and I love 'em. So I'll probably like Carver.

Carver was pretty realistic sure he could have been annoying but he did go through some good character development (hence he matured slightly)
I really liked him and thought it was fun to joke and be kinda nice sometimes to him :P

Carver is one of my favorite characters for the fact that he is your antagonistic sibling, easily beating out Bethany to me.

Then let him DIE in my shadow, insolent worm.  I wish I was allowed to back hand him.

Carver is the ass and Bethany is the sweet one.
We have to reinforce the cliche of "Good twin, bad twin".

Yeah, it's a shame that the sibling death in chapter 1 depends upon the PC class. I have a feeling that Carver would be selected to die at least 9 times out of 10 over Bethany. Aside from the rediculous mage animations, I am pretty sure I wouldn't play one because of being stuck with Carver either.

He's a pretty nice guy compared to.. say.. Fenris ? Morrigan ? Anders ? Your pick.
But he's not a rogue. Only rogue NPCs seem to be made of pure unadulterated win, in DA.

LOL this. Almost every comment he makes is seething with resentment and jealousy. I didn't just save his life in Lothering or anything Posted Image

I'm sure any saving just leaves him feeling even more inadequate in your presence. Posted Image

  • Varric: You know, junior, you're looking at this all wrong.
  • Carver: Whatever it is you're about to say, I'm not interested.
  • Varric: I'm a professional younger brother. Trust me, the center of attention's the worst place to be. When things go wrong, and they always do, that's where all the fingers point. Look at any kingdom in Thedas. You've got people who warm thrones, and people who nobody sees do all the real work.
  • Carver: And my sister is a queen in this scenario? Perfect.
  • Varric: Point. Missing it. Ah well.

Carver was a great character. I LOLed when I read the letter that the Ferelden girl sent to him in act 1 - The letter was basically just a huge rave about how hawt Garret is.

Seeing as how Carver probably wrote to the girl because he liked her, and gets a letter back that doesn't even ask how he's doing...

lol yeah, I really see where Carver was coming from.

He is a cretin (sort of) but his character fits the game just great when player is a mage. ;)
