"Hey, I killed the High Dragon for you. I probably just saved the city from being completely burned down."
"Oh, cool. Thanks, bro."

I remember back in Baldur's Gate II, killing a dragon felt awesome, gave you a sense of accomplishment, and a snazzy new set of armor. The battles were epic and tough, and you had to really be at the top of your game to take it down.

Didn't really get that in DA2.

I got a statue for killing the Arishok, too.

But there was a whole crowd of nobles there for it. No one saw me kill the High Dragon... and it wasn't in the process of attacking the city when I did it.

The high dragon battle is at least more epic than the fight against Flemeth..........

I think that fight was just one big joke Flemeth created. She's really a comedian.

The DA:O Highdragon was much more awesome.

Also got a feeling that she was much larger... Anyway, she also had a more important role in the story. She had her own cult worshipping her as a goddess ect, she was an essential part of the questline.

The DA2 Highdragon was more of a: some miners got nuked, find the source, didn't saw that one coming after the mass dragon invasion there lol

they could have had the High Dragon integrated into the story more. e.g., and entire Act dedicated to finding and killing it. Maybe an act right after Act 2, right before Mage vs. Templar Act. That would make the campaign longer, anyway.

Even the High Dragon was a better villain than Meredith

Well, Dragons in Bioware games have never been that hard to beat. I guess that those of us who played bioware from the start know by now how to deal with them.

It's not like the 'high dragon' in DA:O was anything more than a joke either.

I guess the last time i really screamed in despair against a dragon was when you went under-levelled against the red dragon that had carsomyr.

I think the High Dragon from Origins seemed larger because we could zoom out more and actually see the whole thing instead of chopping away at a set of large purple legs for ten minutes.

Not to mention all the miners that died. Killing the HD totally masks that tragedy, and feels like an accomplishment as a result.

Considering Varric is going around telling everybody you fought off an army of Darkspawn in the Deep Roads they all probably think the High Dragon fight is just another one of his exaggerations.

And there are burning hunks of wood all around.

I think the praise was more for saving the city than killing the Arishok.

Yes, but killing a High Dragon would be saving the city as well.

Edit: in the long run, either way.

It was attacking a Mine well outside the city. As far as anyone knows, it would have never came to the city. If you expect people to thank your for eliminating a threat that they weren't aware of, I don't know what to tell you.

I think the ending would have been better if I came riding in on the back of my new tamed High Dragon... and roasted Kirkwall.

Hey Anders! That's was a cool thing you did with your little firework brah! Better start running... cause here a come. [High Dragon] RAWR!!

Indeed.

Besides, by the time you kill the high dragon, Varric has already told people you've killed dozens of dragons.

He already did. Before you killed it.

Listen to the conversation in the tavern. The Champion is already famous for slaying dragons.
