I guess it's as someone may have mentioned, there were many many powerful and important people present for your Arishok fight. You saved their lives and you got much praise.

You kill a High Dragon that no one else witnesses, and only rumours are heard. Your cousin even says in a letter that people talk about you "fighting a highdragon in darktown" or something similar. So most people probably don't believe it.

I remember back in Baldur's Gate II, killing a dragon felt awesome, gave you a sense of accomplishment, and a snazzy new set of armor. The battles were epic and tough, and you had to really be at the top of your game to take it down.

Didn't really get that in DA2.

You fight a High dragon, her entire brood,  3 of it's oldest childen and you get the champion armor for killing it and you think the fight was taken down a noch?

Considering Varric is going around telling everybody you fought off an army of Darkspawn in the Deep Roads they all probably think the High Dragon fight is just another one of his exaggerations.

Or they believe everything Varric says and killing a High Dragon is just something expected of you. Like breathing

The High Dragon wasn't a threat to the people of Kirkwall (sans the miners), the Arishok was.

It would have been good if this accomplishment had been incorporated into the storyline, adding support for Hawke as Champion and giving more reason for the people of Kirkwall and the Free Marches to see him as a hero. Killing a High Dragon is no small feat, and defeating a dragon made the Baronness in Awakening the popular figure of Blackmarsh village despite being Orlesian (before she started the sacrifices, of course). The defeat of the High Dragon could have swayed more people to Hawke's side, maybe even with an apostate Hawke giving some people reason to see that magic can benefit people.

I think the next High Dragon should gut a whole city and turn it into her nest. Make these dragons look dangerous for once.

I don't think anyone would believe unless you dropped a freshly killed dragon head in the middle of town square..then they might think it died of natural causes.

Some people may not beleive you and some think dragons are extinct so it does make sense.

you where already Champion when you killed the high dragon, people probably put that in the 'things that proove Hawkes badass' folder and moved on.

First off, you were already Champion. Second, you killed the Arishok in front of a cheering crowd, whereas no one was really there to see you beat the dragon. Third, the only person you tell is Hubert, and he's more concerned about the being "RUINED! RUIIIINED!"

Arishok kills viscount and GIVES head in front of all nobles in kirkwall.... high dragon destroys mine no ones cares about and apparently doesnt bother attacking nearest settlements
