I am pretty sure when I am done editing, I just drop them in the override folder.

But where do I extract them from and with what tool?  Will I need to convert them into files that can be opened with photoshop?  If so, which tool should I use to convert them?

and as far as i know their is no tool to extract anything other that text based files.
unless bioware releases their own or someone creates one

I don't know how far out of my league this is, considering I used to edit monster skins all the time in NWN1.

http://social.biowar...index/6422183/1 has links to tools that can extract the files from the erf and rim files.

They can. I've had no trouble with extracting the textures using this tool.
