My main problem with Fenris is that he never wears shoes. Gross.
Neither does Merrill, do elves just not like shoes?
I haven't really LOOKED at alienage elves, but are they wearing shoes? What about those elves in Hightown doing things for their masters (is master the right word for someone who employs a servant?). The elves in the Blooming Rose?
Is there an Elvhen anti-footwear conspiracy going on that dates back to before the fall (or founding?!?!?!>?!) of Arlathan?

I would certainly have liked more, on all fronts. He does still carry the hatred with him, but he recognizes it and is fighting against it, and trying to figure out how not to be that way. The problem with him doing a 180 or even a hard turn is that everything in the game plot reinforces his outlook.Anariel Theirin wrote...
Fair points. But even after his memories emerge a bit, and he confronts his sister, and he learns something about his past, he's still all about hate. That's the part that bothers me. I definitely am not expecting some dramatic scene of him seeing the error of his ways and going around hugging mages. But say, for example, if you didn't have to convince him not to kill his sister...say he made that decision on his own? Something like that, I think, would show a bit of self-doubt in his hatred that would really show growth on his part in a non-cheesy way. I was bothered by the fact that even after he learns about his true past from his sister, he doesn't say much about it. I was just expecting *more* from that quest, and felt that there was lost opportunity there.
Realistically, it's a bit disappointing that the only thing to make him *not* kill his sister is if Hawke intervenes. To me, that felt very much like Hawke-worship from him. But this is just my opinion. I can see where you're coming from, I just didn't feel that way on my playthrough.
He would have killed Varania without Hawke intervening, but I don't see that as Hawke worship. He lets a trusted ally talk him down from acting in the heat of the moment. Other characters do the same, and I will let NPCs talk my character into/ out of doing things sometimes, too. It's not like he turns around and invites Varania over for dinner.

Where is the PC worship in the game then? I could see that Anders fighting mages could be seen as such, as well as Leliana turning back on the ashes if hardened and intimiadated but where else? If the Varania situation is not considered that, I mean.

Note that rivalry isn't equal to "doesn't like you". Having the slider in the middle, where the character doesn't care about you, is bad, having it on either extreme means the character respects you, just either in an more agreeing or more disagreeing manner.

It's not as evident in DA2 as in Origins because there is no Persuade/ Intimidate mechanic, and thank the Maker no hardening mechanic, either. Although Merrill and Anders have notes of PC worship, especially in their romances. I twitch at stuff like that. Just saying I like it if an NPC is not too moldable. If Fenris had ended the game saying "maybe mages aren't that bad after all," my cheese meter would have been going off.Herr Uhl wrote...

You make good points. Maybe my issue really is more with the fact that I wanted more, and felt that I needed more in order to absorb the character development. As it stands, it didn't feel like enough for me. I'm on my second playthrough right now, and am rivalmancing Fenris, and am just getting to Act III, so I may have some differering opinions on this by the end. (First time I friendship romanced him to Act II, and then switched to Anders when Fen sorta-dumped Hawke after sexytimes. Didn't realize until too late that I couldn't just break up with crazy-mage.

I definitely wanted more, too. That would always be the case I guess, but it felt like we got a lot less time with the companions in this game, and that did cause certain things to be either rushed or truncated.
I couldn't agree more. The dialogue was great, the characters were interesting, but there was so much potential there for *so much more*. Considering the deep affection and attachment I felt to nearly everyone in Origins, this felt l like such a disappointment.

Pff... using the Pants Mod for Isabela was the first thing I did after my first playthrough. Only Hake shall be allowed to see her thong from now on.

Seriously Hawke's have some life to them (I studied this for science) and the time you spend naked is about 0.1% of the game unless you're some sort of weirdo.

Lithuasil, which one provides the most sexy time: (a) friendshipmance? (

Sure Isabela doesn't wear pants. But does so proudly, without complaint. Like Morrigan and Bras.

I spent 0% of my time naked. Saw a pic in forums what naked person looks like in DA2. Was enough.
As long as the breasts stay as large, it's all good.

Yes well the naked men in this game are something else.
I spent half the time during Keran's scene laughing at the deformed inverted triangular shape and irregularly placed nipples.
And what's with the pants? Pfht.
