Thank the Maker he was broody instead of whiny like Carth, man if I had the option at the end to kill Carth at the end of KOTOR I would have taken it (but the coward ran away even in the DS option, leaving Mission of all people with the only backbone to stand up to Revan+Bastila).  So I'll take Fenris over Carth any day (apologies to any Carth fans, this was just my reaction to him of course, I'm sure his character is great for others :))

Carth annoyed the crap out of me, but Fenris has the inglorious distinction of being the first party member that I acutally hated and genuinely wanted to kill at the end of the game.

Fenris may not have big gazongas, but judging by his nocturnal activities if he's not with Hawke, he likes 'em.

And now my Hawke feels slightly inadequate. Thanks a lot.

I think Hawke would be just as adequate as Isabela, if she wore a corset and little else.

Actually you can still kill Carth in the end of KOTOR 1, but I think it is only possible if you play through as a Female Revan who romanced Carth and went to the dark side... was so worth it after listening to whine his ass off.

Hmm, I may have to dust of KOTOR and play through as female Rev, romance Carth just so I can kill him :devil:B)

I'm okay with the broody "OH I HAVE SUCH A DARK AND TROUBLED PAST! ALL MAGES MUST DIE BECAUSE I HAVE DADDY ISSUES OR SOMETHING!" shtick, but when he looks like an FF character it makes me cringe. If they gave him a different outfit and a normal hair color(something you modding pc bastards can do) I would take him seriously.

I'm pretty sure isabella's modell is the same as that of "story bethany" or in other words... enhanced.

For instance, I don't think the waitress in the hanged man matches up to Isabella and I believe she uses the standard female torso model (that almost sounds like i'm talking about particle physics).

I think it would be hilarious if Fenris - dramatically, of course - discovered that he had long lost magical talents. He would kill himself in an emo RAEG:devil:

Actually I wouldn't be suprised if Fenris was actually a mage, a mage trained in a very special way to turn his power inward instead of outward.  After all magical ability clearly runs in his family if his own sister was not only a mage but a powerful enough mage to be accepted as a magister's apprentice (magisters don't recruit just any mage off the street after all).

Not entirely related, but since there is some interchangability with blood and lyrium as far as magic goes, i wonder if you could get a similar effect from the tattoos using blood instead of lyrium. for instance dragon blood (is fenris just a different type of reaver perhaps?).

Wasn't that exactly the way how Arcane Warriors used their power?

Well Gaider said in the forums "he's not a mage", but he could have meant in terms of game class.  Isn't there an idea among the elves (and Sandal!) that everyone once had magical ability but lost it?  So there could be some latent ability there.  That's my theory on why Alistair was good at his templar training and has a fascination with arcane objects.  I'm assuming he's Fionaspawn, of course.  Image IPB

But I want to know about Fenris' parents.  He remembers his mother, at least.  Was she a mage, or was his father a mage who screwed her over and that was the first time magic ruined what it touched?

so i read the first 2 pages of this tread meaning i might be out of subject with all the spam that came after... but back on the issue

Is it just me or des friendly path makes fenris <change> alot more then rivalry? Its like if on the friendship part he learns that theres something else beside mages to care about, something good, namely friendship (or love if you romance him)... rival path just confirms things arent simple, and when he has pushed everyone away and has no purpose anymore, youre the only one still there for him.

It just feels the rivalmance doesnt quench his hatred like the friendlymance path does... it just helps him live through it, live with it.

I'm partial to the rivalry path myself so I'm biased, but playing the friendship path, Fenris seemed sadder. I think in both he comes around to the same place- realizing he has to move on and that there is something for him to move on to and not just away from.

As a mage with Fenris at max rivalry, I see it as, he's actually my most loyal companion. Sure, I'm romancing Anders and Varric's my bff, but Fenris will stick by me even tho it goes against his beliefs.

I have to say i do prefer the rival path myself... even if it doesnt help him as much (or in the same way ) as the friend path.

I find most discussions turn around his hatred of the mages and less about his past as a slave. Im always wondering how much he fallows Hawke because hes got no other master ? specially if you play a promage Hawke. You see how docile he could go back to Denarius if you dont help him, and how he killed the Fog warriors who helped him in the past and when you ask him what hell do in the future he says making decisions for himself isnt his strong point.

He wants to be free but does not know how. Friend path answers it mostly by <moving to a new life> and rival path by <do like me and fight for what you want> (he respects what you do for the mages even if he doesnt share the view )

I think that makes him far more interesting than hating mages.
