If they were to do a sequel, or even remake this game for release on PS3, 360, PC, what changes do you think BioWare could do?

I think BioWare should implement a better class system with martial, magic, and weapons.  I don't think a fighter trained specifically in hand-to-hand combat will be able to transform into a demon.  I doubt a fighter trained in magic would want to engage in hand-to-hand fight or want to pick up a weapon.  Fighters trained in weapons are more likely to use weapons than to use magic.  So why not have a class system that implement these tactics?  Similiar to Mass Effect.  A soldier will not have biotic abilities.  A tech specialist will not be able to use every weapon available to them, and adept will rely more on their powers than their weapons or physical strength.  And if you want to be guy who can do both, magic and use weapons, or whatever combination you want, you should be able to do that too.

classes
Martial Artist:  Specifically trained in hand-to-hand combat with an amazing guard (defense).  Martial artists rely on having a strong body as well as a strong mind.

(class specific style will be fighting styles that other classes do not have access too, for example):

Tiger Style
Thousand Cuts
Legendary Strike

Magician:  Trained in magic, magicians have superior spirit.  Relying on magic to immobilized their foes, can transform into powerful beasts, or support their allies in battle.

class specific style:
Transformation
Support Styles
Casting Styles (like Dire Flame)

Weapons Master: These masters of the blade and staff can keep foes away with the reach of their weapons.  Being able to slice their opponent slice opponents with such precision.  These weapons masters rely on there minds far more to wield such powerful weapons.

This can learn 1 support style or hand-to-hand style.

Balanced:  Trained in both (magic, martial arts, weapons) and (magic, martial arts, weapons) [Player can choose two classes they wish to combine.  Balanced fighters are the most versatile of fighters.  Relying on their skills to bring down their enemies with little support of their allies.

Also to say, I would love for their to be 3 squad members, but make the difficulty much tougher.  So it allows casters to sit back at range and heal their allies for example.  Or allow a martial artist to have a healer and another fighter with them.

Just my thought on classes.  I doubt they would make a Jade Empire 2 (Some same the story is finished, but doesn't mean they can't have a story that takes place decades after the events in JE or decades before the events in JE), but here's to hoping!  I've always wanted to posted my thoughts on class creation if they were to ever visit the idea of crafting a new game.  What do you all think?

I think with todays capabilities it would be great. With what was available from 02-05 during development of the original that would have been difficult.

I was thinking that JE2 would take place before the events of Jade Empire. There was enough story given to build on. Problem is I liked some of the characters from the original. I would be happy to have the original released with modern graphics and some of the changes implemented you had mentioned.

Thank you for your comment. You are right, back then, it would have been difficult.

Jade Empire had a good story and the characters had a good back story. Following the closed fist path, I liked the Black Whirlwind, and Silk Fox. I wish if we could bring 2 other members, I would set Whirlwind to attack and Fox as support.

BioWare is well aware that fans are dying for another Jade Empire game, or atleast a release with update graphics, better inventory system, longer story, better dialogue (how about a full VO like Mass Effect-- except to cut back on expenses, just have 2 voice actors for a fem char and male char).

I would love to see some of the changes that I or any other fan have suggested. This is one of BW's under the radar games.

Ha, I would be a *balanced* magician/weapons master. To be able to go Horse Demon and then switch to a sword would be nice.

Sorry for the shameless plug, but my mod offers something very similar to those classes you suggested. They're called specializations, though. There is a certain gem that you must equip to become a specialist. Which discipline you specialize in - martial arts, magic or weapons - is decided by your highest attribute. Health stands for martial arts; chi for magic and focus for weapons. Your chosen discipline will do extra damage, while the other two will suffer.

Everything counts towards your specialization - not just your choices at level-up or your techniques. Your gems count as well. That's the main difference between specializations and classes. You can change your specialization at any time by re-arranging your gems.

Unequip the gem and those bonusses and malusses will disappear and you turn back into a generalist.

That's interesting! I definitely like the idea of dedicating yourself to one or two forms of combat. It made sense for the Spirit Monk to be able to do everything, since she started out as a martial arts student with some weapon training, and then was given insane magical powers as a result of being part of the Spirit Monks. But, since we probably wouldn't be a Spirit Monk in JE2, it'd make a lot more sense if our character was restricted in that sense.

I think one of the nicest things about doing a Jade Empire 2 with today's engine would be the scale of the battles. When they made the original Jade Empire, they were somewhat limited by processing power, so you could only have one party member out at a given time and there could only be so many enemies on the screen. Some of my favorite moments from Jade Empire, though, were when they broke those conventions. Remember fighting all those cannibals in that lodge in the forest? : D That was wild. And of course, the classic battle in the tea house! With today's tech, they could have a lot more battles like that, where the odds are really stacked against you.

On top of that, and this might be a little much, I'd ~love~ it if the roll became environmentally sensitive. I thought it was one of the coolest things about JE; I loved being able to jump over people, roll into them to knock them off balance, roll away at just the right time.... imagine if, for JE2, when you rolled near a table your character would actually involve the table in the roll in some way? Either deftly sliding under it, or gently placing her hand on its surface to skim across. Imagine if they really went crazy with this? So if you jump over someone's head, and there's a low-hanging tree branch, you'd actually grab onto that and launch yourself even further, etc etc. I just loved the fluidity of that roll manuever, and think it'd be so cool if they took it to another level.

I'd also like to see more abilities for each fighting style, but at the same time I'm hesitant about that. The beauty of styles in Jade Empire was in their simplicity - they had very few moves, which meant the game could contain dozens of them, and through these dozens of styles, you could create a unique sort of fighting style for your Spirit Monk. It was pretty satisfying when you finally had a bunch of styles that meshed well together. That said, maybe some kind of parry move would be nice? If you block right as someone's attack is coming in, it'll do a counter-act, with the difference being that a style can only be parried by the same type of style. So, if someone attacks with a weapon, you can't parry that with your hands - you'd need a weapon as well (or else you're blocking a sword with your hands, which is kind of crazy).

If they made the counterattacks look unique to each style, this could be sick! Imagine someone shooting fireballs at you, but you block at the right time in an ice style and a wall of ice instantly pops up, absorbing the fire.

Going hand in hand with that, I think it'd be nice if the blocks looked unique, and appropriate for their style. So instead of every block creating a red shield around you, you'd be blocking with your hands/feet in a martial style, with your weapon in a weapon style, with focused spirit energy in a support style, and with magic in a magic style.

I'm trying to think of another cool "type" of style to add, too, but it's tough. They really cover just about every method of fighting with the five types, but if anyone else has any ideas, go for it!

Perhaps add stealth mechanics to be able to kill your foe ninja style? What do you guys think?

I like everyones ideas! Thanks for liking mine too.

Stealth should be for weapon masters. I don't think you should turn "invisible," but you enter focus mode and it tells you areas where the enemy can't see you.

For example: Enter focus mode, and you see options available to you that weren't before. Such as hiding behind a barrel, hiding behind a tree or statue. Then leaping at them at the best possible moment (only can be used to engage enemies).

Spirit Monks could learn every style. But in JE2 (if made), you should be limited, to one play style or a balanced style of your choice.

Shameless plug?  No!  I would like to see more of your suggestions.  It's always nice to see what others have created.
