My PS3 died - What about all of my downloadable content?

I have been having a bad day ... my PS3 has died, with the fabled red light of death. I have all of my saves from DA:Origins, Awakening, and DA2 plus downloadable content on the hard drive from EVERYTHING that has ever been made available for DA (I bought Collector's Editions for DA:O and DA2).

I have done on-line research and found that if I send the PS3 to Sony, they will often wipe the hard drive or send back a completely different console. Apparently there is no way to copy the hard drive alone because of a proprietary operating system that is not compatable with PC. My system can potentially be fixed, but at a cost of about $80-$100 through third-party repairmen.

So my question to the forum at large - does anybody know if I just get a new PS3, can I get my downloadable content through PSN again? Or must I repair the old system to regain my DLC?

Thanks for any input.

DLC for all games is tied to your PSN account. Your account is your account no matter what PS3 you sign in from.

You shouldn't have to pay for DLC again.

anything downloaded from the playstation store can be downloaded again from the top right hand corner of the store's screen as long as you log into the same psn account

dragon age game saves are console locked so you can't copy them and when you put a hard drive into a ps3 and it wasn't formatted for THAT ps3 it WILL reformat it and you'll lose every thing any way

About your DLC they are bound to your account. So just sign in and re-download them again. Just make sure Sony deactivates your old console. But i think that works automatically at least i hope so.

BTW. Dragon Age 2 saves are not copy protected only Dragon Age 1. Hopefully they can release a patch to remove copy protection on Dragon Age 1 so people can make backups of valuable data. Iam psn+ member so i can backup all save data even copy protected to a online cloud on my ps+ account. I allways make backup save after each game session. I recommend ps+ just for this feature. My saves are gold worth for me. ;-)

I have PSN+ so I've made online backups of all my crucial save data, because you never know when you might have a hard-drive failure or worse the system dies on you.

If there is any life at all in your old PS3, you can try to extract the contents of the HD to a new PS3 with an ethernet cable (done it meself)
