Cold seems like it's the money maker of the group.  Nice list.

- Maybe tally up low, normal, etc for each elemental type on a seperate line?

If they are immune to cold dmg, will they still freeze are be slowed down?  I think they were in Origins but I'm not sure.

The 'money maker', as you put it, is, of course, spirit :) But yes, cold is probably the close second. Freeze/brittle is resisted by successful physical resistance check (=fortitude), and has nothing to do with cold resistance, as counter-intuitive is as it sounds.

I'm extremely clumsy as far as text formatting is concerned, but I'll see to it.

Does "low" mean "lower immunity" or "lower damage from this attack"?

Errr... What do you mean by that? Lower resistance to a certain element = higher damage from that element-based attacks.

OK I think I understand.

"Low" means there is a slight additional resistance?

"Normal" means there is no resistance?

incidentally, TVM for putting this list together!

No, it was an obvious typo on my part :) Target's low resistance to element X, exactly like in your character's case = element X does more damage to that target. I thought it was self-explanatory, truth be told.

Oh, I see , so "Low" means the enemy has a weakness to that attack?

that would make sense because I thought RAGE demons should be more susceptible to cold.

I think he just got his words mixed up.  If it's low it would be higher dmg sense immune would be direct opposite.

Maybe it should be:  weak - normal - immune

Anyways I did a quick tally:

               Cold   Electric   Fire   Nature   Spirit

Weak:       11        10          3         6              7

Normal:    10        13        16        11           15

Immune:    4          2          6          8              3

- So by those results, Cold and Electric are pretty much all around better.  The two money makers. :wizard:

Yes. Normal means the element works 'as intended'. Immune is... well, immune.

This table is interesting, but ultimately misleading. Three major considerations must be taken into account:

(1) Spirit damage-dealing mechanics (I guess I don't have to elaborate) are infinitely superior to any other element. Spirit is by far the most efficient all-around choice, without a slightest doubt.
(2) The practical implications of certain enemy type being weak to element X. Are these enemies common? Are they dangerous? Your statistics would be meaningful, if all the enemies were equal.
(3) +X% elemental damage talents/gear. In this respect, fire wins the race by a huge margin.

Also, one might want to compare cold damage-dealing potential (since damage taken is the only parameter being weak to cold increases -- again, freeze/brittle bears no relevance to cold resistance) to, say, fire damage-dealing potential. I strongly suspect you will be hugely disappointed :)

Overall, as far as elements' relative strength is concerned: spirit > cold (only because of attached effects) > electricity > fire > nature. However, some of the best DW weapons either deal nature dmg, or have a built-in + X nature dmg bonus, which allows for some pretty interesting late game builds.

Well those results are based off your results.

I haven't tested all the spells and their dmg so I couldn't say if spirit is better or not.  On average more enemies are weak to cold and electricity.

I've always liked cold because even if someone is immune to the damage, they still can be frozen or slowed.  I don't know of any spirit spell that can do that.  Also a lot of Boss fights are weak to cold.  I haven't full experimented with spirit yet, so I'm not really sure how good it is.  On my next game I will be using it.

No matter what you definitely need 2 or 3 different elements so you are covered for all situations.

Can you make it colorful and pretty?

Also I'm pretty positive that Profanes took X4 Cold damage. Might want to check into it and add a "very low" paramater.

-Scratch that false alarm.

I'll do more testings on my travels. Worth keeping this thread alive.
Also I would like to see CC immunity or at least a new section for bosses.

In DA2, spirit damage halves both magic and damage resistance, and bypasses armor. Hope no further defense of this element is required :)

I'll do my best. In case I fail, you have my permission to use this reference sheet in your own post (in a more readable format, if you wish) :)

I'll give you a chance good sir. I'll dig into this more. I was thinking about posting a similar thread. We'll see how this one goes.

How does the immunity work?

I've massacred some Qunari with Chain Lightning.

>>>Also those of you who read this and can take a quick minute to report any such Immunity or resistance concerned information  about bosses or creatures I'll be in your debt. Can't possibly imagine how long it would take to test them all.

IN1, could you possibly confirm from your testing if +%(damage type) had an effect on damage totals? If not, I understand.

I'm pretty sure it was on Nightmare at the end of Act 2 and they were STAGGERED. A couple times I dropped down to hard - I'll double check.

Maybe the lower level Qunari aren't 100% immune?

I'll do some comprehensive testing anyway, as an optimal solo rogue build in Act III should rely heavily on elemental damage (either Nature or Fire). I can conduct some quick tests later and post the results in this thread, if you wish.

Currently, I believe this property on talents (say, Spirit Mastery) works as intended. Totally not sure about the gear.

Pretty sure Qunari are completely immune to lightning like the undeads are to nature damage. they do absolutely no damage what-so-ever against them on nightmare.
