IN1, could you possibly confirm from your testing if +%(damage type) had an effect on damage totals? If not, I understand.
Using Stone's Breath staff:
26 spirit dmg
+13% spirit dmg
on a profane with "low resistance" scored double damage plus the 13% which should come up as ~59 but it was actually higher with the magic bonus.
Is that what you mean?

The 'money maker', as you put it, is, of course, spiritBut yes, cold is probably the close second. Freeze/brittle is resisted by successful physical resistance check (=fortitude), and has nothing to do with cold resistance, as counter-intuitive is as it sounds.
Lightning would be the second simply because you can liberally use Chain Lightning and Tempest any day, all day except vs the Qunari/Profane/Rock Wraith. Then you just use Spirit Bolt and Spirit Staves.
I just recently noticed something startling as well; on Nightmare, physical melee weapons suck something fierce compared to elemental melee weapons. A physical weapon like Aurvar's Prize (33 physical) does PITIFUL damage against any Warrior type enemy due to armor, and something like Sataareth blows it out of the water (except vs fire immunes of course). I had it sitting in my bag for a while and decided to see what the damage was like before selling it and buying a better weapon. It was doing literally 50% more on average.
This should be true of most elemental weapons compared to similar (but higher) physical weapons across the board. So it wouldn't hurt to simply carry around two weapons. One that you'll be using most of the time and the other (physical) to go against immunes. Unless of course you simply want to carry around even more weapons and use those that are really good against specific enemies.

Pretty sure Qunari are completely immune to lightning like the undeads are to nature damage. they do absolutely no damage what-so-ever against them on nightmare.
In other news, the tooltip on Hemorrhage is a lie. I've yet to find one creature it doesn't work on outside of a Golem.

What is the big deal about Spirit damage and armor? Don't all elemental attacks bypass armor by default? Manual page 11?

Does Graunt mean it works against undead and demons? I can see how one could assume those creatures don't have blood. At least rage demons and undead.

The big deal is it halves damage and magic resistance.

Are you sure Mages' resistance to spirit is "low"? I just finished a mage playthrough and I know that shielded X flashed over their heads when I was using my favorite spirit staff.
Apostates, Circle Mages, Blood Mages, and Circle High Mages all have low SR, yes. Slaver Mages are a different enemy type. Arcane Horrors are immune to spirit damage.

How does the immunity work?
I've massacred some Qunari with Chain Lightning.
I'm pretty sure it was on Nightmare at the end of Act 2 and they were STAGGERED. A couple times I dropped down to hard - I'll double check.
Maybe the lower level Qunari aren't 100% immune?
I loaded a previous save from Act 2 and yes, they are definitely 100% immune to cross class combo lightning attacks.
the occasion when I got a Chain Lightning CCC combo on some Qunari must have been on Hard mode instead.

I don't see shades on your list but they are definitely immune to spirit. I'm not sure what they are weak to, maybe electrical? I think they are normal to fire and ice, don't know about nature.
Oops. They actually have the same elemental resistances as Desire Demons. I'll update the OP. Thanks.

Yea Tempest can work wonders on a group of them.

The immunity is a bit extreme in some cases. Dalish type is immune to nature? They are technically some human-like people who may be very good at wilderness survival. But having all of them immune to all poison is a bit extreme. Unless I read your chart wrong. At best give them high resist.
In fact I am more comfortable with Dalish being immune to nature than with Street thugs immune to fire. They aren't exactly born from fire elementals.
Anyway, nice list. I was hoping you can color code this list to make it more pleasing to the eye. Or if you like I can help you with it.

Yes, please do it, by all means. Currently, it's a true Nightmare difficulty list: infuriatingly challenging to read, that is

Becuase it works on Skeletons, Rage demons, Arcane Horrors and Shadow Warriors. Pretty much enemies that would not have any blood. The only thing it doesn't work on is the whole 3-4 rock golems you face in the entire game and nothing is immune to it since it's physical damage.

Any enemy with a "low" next to their name takes 2x more damage against the corresponding element.
After making my elemental/primal mage yesterday, I've been cruising through the game on nightmare by exploiting enemy weaknesses with both spells and staves.(there's a cold staff sold by the undercity vendor that makes dragons, templars, and qunari hilariously easy).
