I'm not entirely sure but I guess the reason why I like Bethany so much is because a long time ago, before Dragon Age II was officially announced, I was on IMDb and somebody asked me what type of female companion I wanted for the future Dragon Age sequel and I said that I wanted a chick who was a cross between Morrigan and Leliana. And while I seriously doubt that BioWare monitors IMDb message boards, it was nice to see a character who was essentially an Apostate like Morrigan but she grew up in completely different surroundings. And so, she's sort of like Morrigan but she's Morrigan-Lite, meaning she sort of looks like her and she has led a tough life as an Apostate hiding from the Templars, but she has a bit of a warm, kind-hearted, sweet-natured, personality like Leliana. It's a shame that when I finally get to play Dragon Age 2, I'm gonna have to be Garrett Hawke, because I don't really wanna be him.
Because Bethany really is, the perfect blend of Betty and Veronica from Archie comics, but if I'm Garrett Hawke, I'm stuck wasting my affections on some bland looking Pixie chick, and on a pirate **** who reminds me way too much of Jack Sparrow. And I'm not THAT big of a Jack Sparrow fan. (Now I know that Bethany is Hawke's sister because that's been pointed way too many times. But that's the point. Why do I gotta be Hawke?) Can't I go back to being a mute, lifeless looking, Grey Warden? Because I like that a milion times more. It's good to be the King Warden but it sucks Hawke. (As far as his straight heterosexual love life goes.) And unless Bioware releases some official romantic DLCs involving some new companion women who happen to get integrated into the main story upon downloading, my opinion is never gonna change.
