i didn't realize this, and now i have 4 extra skill points (keeps adding to pinning shot).
this is kinda lame... i guess im gonna have to deal with a constant lvl up symbol.
every time i reload after respec i get an extra point...

Well, it doesn't happen usually. But I've seen it happen with points invested into Rush and Confusion a couple of times.

I was having this problem too, and someone directed me to how to resolve it. Basically there's a strange bug with consumables that somehow interferes with your respec. Simply dump all of your potions in a chest before you respec and you won't have this problem. It's also never an issue with your companions with or without anything in your inventory. I'm not sure if it will reset correctly though back to where you should be if you've already gained a few points and saved.

I had a problem with my warrior grabbing turning the blade every level automatically without spending points, so all I had to do was drink a potion and I had an extra skill point every level. It's a nice bug if you are having complications with the game, but horrible if you want a challenge. This game just feels slopped together without any consideration.

This bug is made far worse when you save after using Maker's sigh, then load the save before allocating points. I was messing around to see how ridiculous this could be and found that after the third or forth immediate respec that there is an additional level to the bug.
Sometimes when you reload, it will actually give you abilities that have prerequisites. This means that you will not get the normal 2 extra points each time, but four.
After doing this like 8 times in a row on a warrior, it was giving me the entire 2h tree for free plus 4 points per round.
I think I had an extra 8 specialization points as well when I was done.
