whats the point in releasing a trailer so late ?

Making a trailer that says "Now available" makes great sense.

It also gives those of us on PC and PS3 something to do while waiting to download it for several hours.  :P

Making a trailer that says "Available March 29th" makes GREATER sense.

:crying:

It's acutally better this way, we can skip the trailer since we will be too busy playing the actual dlc!

We can go in totally fresh and new!

I'd love to spoil Arrival for you guys like I did with Dragon Age 2.
But review copies of DLC are given the same day as the actual release.
So we'll all be going in blind this time. :D

Damn it...

Can we at least be told (screen shots are nice!) if the VS is in the DLC? I was expecting a glimpse at that during the trailer. It was also going to influence my next playthrough (I am sure that I am not the only one)

Or ...

I always suspected the "leak" of the "What is Arrival?" stuff was intentional, a marketing ploy.

Maybe not. It certainly appears that the leak rushed things up a lot if BW is releasing the product and the trailer for it on the same day.

It's better this way. There's nothing better than getting your mind blown by that first playthrough.

This thread turned out quite interesting. It will be kinda funny when someone posts the real Arrival trailer, and everyone is like "yeah sure it is" and then they click the link and go

EDIT: Saw Chris post

Alas I am mildly convinced that BioWare/EA Marketing consists of slightly educated monkeys...so more school wont help.

Well, all of us are already interested in it.. I guess the trailer is really for the non-hardcore fans?  And is meant for pulling them in immediately to the "buy" button - but if it said, "out next week", they may not remember by then... since they're not like us, constantly wasting our lives on this website :P

So they're going for the impulse buy? Why? They don't want people to watch a trailer and then have a week to decide whether or not to click the 'buy' button?

560 MSP/BP, only a handful of nondescript screenshots released, and a trailer released the same day as the DLC itself. This smells fishy. Do we have another "Witch Hunt" on our hands here?

While this does have some merit, there are many corners of the internet which have not heard of the DLC so getting word out early would both A. Sate us ravinous fans with nothing better to do (which is ironic as I am sitting in a class right now) who will then go and yell at our other nerd friends to buy this dlc when it is released. B. Get some hype rolling, then maybe release a much smaller trailer along side the DLC release.as your "GO BUY ME!!" button.

But hey I'm a history major, not a business/marketing guy.

To be fair, most corporate companies' marketing departments consist of monkeys. It is standard (not just in gaming).

Bioware does indeed have the worse marketing team ever. There is no point for the trailer, a trailer is meant to get people ready for something.
