Arrival Trailer will be posted WITH release next Tuesday

That's the thing, a trailer is ment to build up hype, there is no point for the trailer if it comes out the day the content comes out. This just shows me that Bioware and EA know Arrival is going to be a disapointment and they don't want to overhype it. It's WH all over again.Fiery Phoenix wrote...

There's only so much mindshare out there, and DA2 is going to get the majority of it. Mass Effect is still important, but don't worry, it's time will come again. ME3 release will be huge.

So they're going for the impulse buy? Why? They don't want people to watch a trailer and then have a week to decide whether or not to click the 'buy' button?
560 MSP/BP, only a handful of nondescript screenshots released, and a trailer released the same day as the DLC itself. This smells fishy. Do we have another "Witch Hunt" on our hands here?
Up until this last weird "we're releasing the trailer on the same day as the DLC" occurrence - I was one of those that totally believed the 560 did not mean a small DLC, but that it would be awesome. But now I'm absolutely beginning to have my doubts.
I'm still gonna buy it, but a few screenshots and the "impulse buy" trailer on Tuesday next week just make it really strange. I'm still hoping that my first thoughts were right but now I truly have some doubts. Oh well - until next week.

or its to allow those that don't know if they want to buy it get a short preview to help them decide if they want to get it. the vast majority of traliers (movie traliers etc) are designed to get you to spend money on said item. they aren't designed for people who are already gonig to spend that money on it (like those of us that have been asking for it for the past month+).
to put it in a way a bit more easy to understand is that a tralier for a movie/game/dlc is a 5 paragraph pursasive essay. designed (for the most part) to convince you to buy something not to hype you up (although there are some of those).

Market research tells them (the marketing department) otherwise.

So the strategy is to drop a surprise on those consumers, rather than to inform them that a new DLC release is pending? It's better to say "give us $7 now" than "hey, bag a lunch this week, DLC next tuesday"?
Either way doesn't change anything for me personally, but I do think this is strange. And after the last few months of "strange" marketing from Bioware, including keeping DA2 tightly under wraps until the last possible second, I'm getting a little suspicious.

If some people were to see the Arrival trailer today, some of them might be excited about it at first. But might not feel the same way, or even forget about it for a bit when the DLC comes out a week later.
I mean, think about it. If most of us were to see it on the day that it came out, we would be hella excited and buy it right away instead of letting our emotion wait a week.
That's how I look at it, anyways. I don't know a thing about marketing, so I don't know.

Ok a couple of things:
1 - The trailer will be available next Tuesday.
2 - Mr Houston's Twitter account is not an official BioWare channel. It is his personal Twitter account. No more.
wow, that's lame.

This is actually probably it. It's basically EA wanting to pull in as many people as possible. Problem solved.AwesomeName wrote...

Well, all of us are already interested in it.. I guess the trailer is really for the non-hardcore fans? And is meant for pulling them in immediately to the "buy" button - but if it said, "out next week", they may not remember by then... since they're not like us, constantly wasting our lives on this website

I hope everyone has a balls to wait until it is properly reviewed before purchasing the DLC if they are gonna hide their product like this.
I can wait. I didn't buy LOTSB because it wasn't interesting enough for me and I waited until I got a good look at it before making the purchase, and I am glad I did. I will do the same thing for Arrival.
No trailer, me-no-buy on first day.

Dude, the thing is being released in 1 week. What is it about? Why should we buy it? How much is it? When will it be released? These are things trailers reveal.
I have no urge to buy this DLC because I have NO IDEA what it's about! Bioware is hiding their product.
Not only is that devious, it is also disconcerting. The DLC is rumored to be CHEAPER than the other DLC released, meaning less quality product. And the fact they are hiding it until release must mean its not something to be excited about.

I love how people who don't know how to do my job tell me how to do my job. A trailer IS meant to get you ready to do something. It is to get you ready to buy the product. Whether it comes out today or next week, it accomplishes the same thing.
An advance trailer for everyone posting in this thread is not needed. You all know about Arrival and, as long as you believe it has value and fun for your dollar, you will likely buy it. And to play Devil's Advocate a moment, if you don't like what you see in the trailer or don't see the fun/value, giving it to you today or next week makes no difference.
A trailer released on the day it is available showing how cool it is saying "now available" will drive people who do not frequent these forums or the Mass Effect website to buy it immediately (yes, because it is cool and an excellent DLC that we feel peopel will want to play).
People here are upset because you think someone promised you a trailer today (which we never did) or because you have to wait 7 days. I get that waiting sucks, but thats the way it is. I get you are disappointed, but some of the blame goes to all of you who got your hopes up.
That said, we do have some cool stuff coming between now and next Tuesday, like the live chat we're going to have with Mac Walters talking about Arrival, comic books, other cool Mass Effect discussion. Details of the chat to be sent out soon.
Stay Tuned.

It could be cheaper because BioWare wants to entice more people to buy it.
Or, they could've have listened to complaints about the price of Lair of the Shadow Brother being 800 MS points.

Maybe the trailer being released on the day is because there are so many spoilers in it that to do a trailer will reveal way too much.
If that's the case then it sounds to me like the DLC is going to be incredibly short, if they can't make a few minutes trailer out of random footage without spoiling the entire thing.
But anyways I think this is an unlikely scenario because spoilers are spoilers, whether they are a week in advance or just one day. The logic here that they would delay a 'spoiler trailer' until launch day--in the interest of not spoiling the DLC--is faulty.
