Bioware does indeed have the worse marketing team ever. There is no point for the trailer, a trailer is meant to get people ready for something.
I love how people who don't know how to do my job tell me how to do my job. A trailer IS meant to get you ready to do something. It is to get you ready to buy the product. Whether it comes out today or next week, it accomplishes the same thing.
An advance trailer for everyone posting in this thread is not needed. You all know about Arrival and, as long as you believe it has value and fun for your dollar, you will likely buy it. And to play Devil's Advocate a moment, if you don't like what you see in the trailer or don't see the fun/value, giving it to you today or next week makes no difference.
A trailer released on the day it is available showing how cool it is saying "now available" will drive people who do not frequent these forums or the Mass Effect website to buy it immediately (yes, because it is cool and an excellent DLC that we feel peopel will want to play).
People here are upset because you think someone promised you a trailer today (which we never did) or because you have to wait 7 days. I get that waiting sucks, but thats the way it is. I get you are disappointed, but some of the blame goes to all of you who got your hopes up.

Or, you know...you could release a trailer with no footage, but just a recording of Lance Hendrikson's voice.
That'd be cool too

Thank you again, Chris. And even though I wasn't the one who did it, I just wanted to say I'm sorry you had to be given crap like that.

Maybe the trailer being released on the day is because there are so many spoilers in it that to do a trailer will reveal way too much.
Excellent point.

Your marketing still sucks. Anyone who passed a basic marketing course can see that.
BW has one of the worst marketing team I have ever seen.

Or we're suspicious because we remember Witch Hunt, we quite clearly remember how delayed the unveiling of Dragon Age 2 was (for obvious reasons), and now Bioware is once again relying on faith in the brand name to sell a product. This makes many people suspicious--not upset because we thought we were promised something we weren't. Seriously? You couldn't be more off-base with your assumptions, but to me that's not really a surprising revelation about Bioware employees anymore.

whats the point in releasing a trailer so late ?
Making a trailer that says "Now available" makes great sense.
I'm sure you guys/gals have your reasons, but they're lost on me. Bioware has released a trailer for ME3 far in advance. Studios release trailers for movies well in advance of the release date. The expectation of a "trailer" is that it's released "in advance" to generate interest for your product. I've seen "now in theaters" trailers, but they're preceded with pre-release trailers.
There are people who are more casual than us board-lurkers and you'd be able to grab their attention rather easily with a short flashy trailer.

Buuut I do want to say thanks for at least telling us what's going on.... soooo, Thanks!

YUS! Do I get a cookie for the right answer??
In your face marketing majors
Furthermore, some people need to realise that releasing the trailer on the day of release isn't bad in, what I assume feels to some people, as being the same as releasing a trailer on the day of a movie's theatrical release, which is out for a LIMITED TIME. This is a completely different situation to that, and the DLC will be available to grab indefinitely.

It's not even related to this trailer.
BioWare's marketing and PR teams suck. One of the main reasons they do not sell as many copies as their competitors.

in a way i feel that mass effect fans demand wayyy to much from bioware. yes i know back then bioware said theyll listen to fans but i must admit ( as a fan) i do see alot of people get to be pretty prickish torwards the devs. im not saying im innocent myself in the debate but most or half of these fans end up blood thirsty wich imo isnt cool

Of course not. All the questions will be written and pre-selected to advertise how awesome the comics and games are, complete with buzz words and marketing slogans. If we're lucky, "emotionally engaging" might make its triumphant return!
