Got the key from Dwyn to open his Strongbox, the weapon for Sten is in there. But where the hell is this box?

Save and reload, area should respawn.

It's a slightly brighter chest in Dwyn's hut. The sort of thing you'd expect to open when going there without the quest, then finding out that it isn't even clickable. It becomes clickable when you get the key. Use tab. If it's not there it's bugged.

I've saved, reloaded, made a clean save, reloaded. I have the key, still not able to open the strongbox.

I had a different problem with the Strongbox: I had the key and it was there just as it should be but when I would either "take all" or just drag Stern's Sword to my inventory, I would not get the Quest update nor have the Sword in my inventory. I tried 3 different reloads with the same result.



So the way I was able to fix it was to get the key off of Dwynn, go back to Camp, save then head back to Redcliffe, go back in his house and open his Strongbox then ONLY drag the Sword to my inventory and it worked. Back at Camp I then gave Stern the Sword. Hope this may help others?

it s a steel or red steel sword i forgot , in my games so far i did nt played with Sten because first he does nt have two spec points and Oghren is funnyer

Well if you don't have the Quest to get Stern's sword back then that can be why it isn't there?  And of course if you have the Quest active you must have Stern amongst your party for Dwynn to sell you the sword in the first place.  Other than that, I am not sure?

I have the Sten's sword quest. The odd thing is that my journal still says the sword is in Orzammar where the scavenger took it. The journal hasn't updated by the look of it. Sten's in my party and says "It's mine" during the conversation and everything. Weird.

I have this problem too, I talked to the scavenger, he tells me Dwyn has the sword, but the quest doesnt update. After several tries I gave up since I dont have Sten in my party but it still bugs me.

Okay, my journal, after talking to the Scavenger says someone named Faryn took the sword to Orzammar. I think that's where the quest breaks for at least two of my characters. I've never been to Orzammar, all I have to do is walk up to Dwyn and ask him about the sword. He gives me the key, can't even click on the strongbox. Is there a planned fix for this?

Faryn is just outside Orzammar as a merchant, you talk to him after the scavenger then go to Dwyn, Worked for me just fine but took forever to realise the original scavenger was there at Lake Calenhad docks.

This happened to me too. Dwyn gave me the key but the strongbox does not highlight and I can't interact with it. So I reloaded and when the conversation thread about the qunari sword appears, I chose the dialoque that opts to buy the sword from him (choice number 1). I still intimidated him following this conversation string and got the key for free. He gave the key and the strongbox became active for interaction and I was able to get Sten's sword. It appears as a gift to give to Sten which then became the equipable Asela.
