Ok, bear with me on this. As Shepard, you can choose to pick Morinth over Samara. If you do this, you have the option to pursue a "romance" with Morinth. This, naturally, ends in Shepard's death because Morinth Cannot have sex with anyone without killing/absorbing life essense from that person.

Now, we all know that actually romancing Morinth is about the dumbest thing that Shepard can do in the game but have any of you realized just how stupid of Morinth it was?

Depending on playthroughs by the end of the game Shepard's team could consist of 11 other highly trained, absolutely deadly operatives capable of taking on entire armies (maybe). Not only that but EDI maintains constant video surveilance of the entire ship. She would know as soon as Morinth killed Shepard and would most likely alert either Miranda or Jacob.

This would ultimately result in Morinth's death. If there's one thing about serial killers its that they aren't suicidal. Romancing Shepard is basically signing her own death warrant so why did she push it?

Because she's either too foolish to realise the consequences or too addicted to care IMO.

What do you all think?

I think it was put in for a joke rather than to be taken overly seriously.

Yeah, but still...

I don't know, I've played this game more than a dozen times and run out of things to ask the community.

Jacob: Samara, what the hell happened to Shepard?

Morinth: I don't know... Embraced eternity, prehaps? Forget him. Let's talk about us... Afterall, you're the most interesting person on this ship... remaining...

Jacob: [eyeballs blue boobs]

Morinth thought that Shepard's mind is so strong that he could survive melding with her. She points that Shepard has already endured visions of the Protean beacon.

No, she KNEW that Shepard would die. I think she would take an Escape Pot or something.

That's just Morinth's way to try a different approach to get Shepard. As trying to overpower him/her didn't work she decides to play the victim that's just looking for love. Samara tells you that the hunt is as important as the kill to Morinth, and as noone probably has been able to resist her before she becomes obsessed with Shepard.

That's how I see it anyway.

Morinth is also addict. The whole life sucking thing is narcotic to her, I guess she could push her hunger aside only for so long and had to get her fix somehow. Shepard being obvious choice since she is drawn to powerful individuals.

I find Samara/Morinth to be the most interesting side character of the whole series.
OP: Morinth is not stupid. She is not addict either, otherwise she would just waste someone other on the ship, someone she could easily trick. In fact, I actually believe her claim about not feeling love of another for too long etc. You could say she is just desperate. Or maybe it is all mindgame and she has prepared escape plan. You could never say with this character, that is her magic. Until authors develop her character further, it is all guesswork and everyone can believe what he wants.
I believe she is not crazy murderer who wants to see everyone dead.

Am I the only one who is now calling Morinth by her new name, Moronth, after seeing the title of this thread? *Grins*

If only reapers were into organics, our problem could be solved with Morinth!

And here I was thinking that Morinth was an idiot for not recognizing that it couldn't be a coincidence that Shepard liked Forta, Vaenia, and Halex a few days after killing Nef.

How could you say that? After all, she plays chess, sharpens her mind.
Seriously, that is rather a case of bad writing than her stupidity.

Or rather, bad dialogue directing. She should grow suspicious with second convenient coincidence, and silently disappear after the third.

Morinth's just a prop in Samara's story, so her character is much less fleshed out than the others.
After absorbing Shepard, she's got pretty much all she needs to get away: access codes, passwords, schematics... pretty simple matter for her to take the shuttle for a spin and escape (assuming EDI & Joker don't notice anything wrong).

Let's not forget her conversation with Shepard in the V.I.P. Lounge.

"Hey Morinth, I like Forta.... and Vaenia..... and Hallex!!!"

The three things she shared with her last victim. Normally that would raise a red-flag for someone, especially one who's a fugitive living on the run. And she was the smartest and bravest of Samara's daughters?

She probably suspected that Shepard was investigating what happened to Nef, but she didn't think he/she was working with Samara, justicars don't usually ask for help. As for the conversation in the lounge, you don't have to pick all three options to make her invite you to her loft.

Except that EDI has cameras all over the ship and the Normandy is superior in speed, capability, and tracking systems than an escape pod or even the Kodiak on a bad day.

Even if she got off the ship in an escape pod or the Kodiak, the normandy could find her and blow her out of the sky.

It wouldn't take much power of deduction, assuming the monitoring systems aren't active in the obersvation deck, to connect the fact that Shepard being found dead in the observation deck, Samara/Morinth being gone, and an escape pod/the Kodiak being missing into a cohesive picture of what happened.

Thus the Normandy would start scanning for heat signatures and fine the Kodiak/escape pod and either capture it and find out what happened then kill Morinth or blow it out of the sky right then and there.

She would always die, always. They even have ways of tracking ships through FTL if I'm not mistaken so the Kodiak is toast always as well.

I'm going to go with Morinth felt Shepard would survive until Bioware destroys that idea. I think if they don't a whole slew of people will cry foul. Ah, well. An interesting character bites the dust.  I'm used to it.

I think it was more of a joke thing they put in.

With that said, yes, killing Shepard on his own ship would be dumb. After EDI witnessed it Morinth would find herself trapped on the crew deck and within seconds would be facing 1) Kasumi, a master at stealth, 2) Miranda, a strong biotic with excellent combat training, 3) Thane Krios, master assassin, and 4) Garrus Vakarian, master at being Garrus-motherf******g-Vakarian.

And if she somehow survived all of that, EDI would just vent the ship's atmosphere and go to FTL speed, like she did to the Collectors.
