It says unknown mage. I realise it's all hearsay, still interesting though.
What is Blood Magic and how is it used?

I've actually heard that the spell used to rip the Arishok in two in the trailer is the 'Crushing Prison' finisher, but I've never used that spell as a mage, so I wouldn't know.
Crushing Prison is an Arcane spell that in no way resembles the spell used in the DA2 trailer.

I think that blood, when is forcefully released from a "conscious" entity weakens the veil. Blood mages use this fact to augment their spellcasting capabilities and to summon demons. On the other hand demons are very eager to teach it to mortals because this increases their chance to enter the mortal realm.
Propably blood magic and demonic possesion exploit the same metaphysical principles. These principles should be well known by demons and thus the most advanced techniques would have been tought originally to mortals by them.
Now some questions : Can you use the blood of any creature for blood magic ? If you use the blood of different creatures will you have the same effect ?
Personally I think that in theory any kind of blood would be sufficient but the effects will vary greatly. Propably the blood of mundane animals like dogs would be insufficient even to power a simple spell.
However the blood of a simple non mage human/elf (all of it) is enough to power relatively powerful spells. Finally relatively small amounts of blood from a mage can produce potent spells. Thus I came to conclusion that the "highest quality" blood is that of mages and mythical creatures ( dragons ).
This is also supported by these two facts. Beeing a mage is hereditary trait. Abomination power is relative to the magical power of the host.
But what about Darkspawn ? ( Avernus uses tainted blood and says that this is alien to demons. Propably Darkspawn cannot be directly possesed by Fade Creatures.) What about dwarven blood ?
