At the end of act 2 and I chose to help Isabella get the relic back. She left (as predicted) and left a note saying she couldn't put me in danger blah blah blah...
I got her 100% friendship bonus Thumbs Up even though she wasn't in my party anymore (yes the slow down bug of doom and yes I nearly pissed myself seeing it) and took that to mean she'd come back at the end. I did the duel, never gave the Arishok her name and never offered to give the relic back to him.
Act 3 and no Isabella in either night or day time Hanged Man. I did her quest, gave her the ship in a bottle, did nothing to antagonize her so can someone tell me what I'm supposed to do to make her come back? I hate losing companions. Please help. I found her amusing and except for the bug that I've heard about, I would like her to come back.

If she doesn't come back during the Arishok thing, she's not coming back.

She returned right before I faught the Arishok in my save, she comes back with the book to save the day. Thats when she's supposed to return.
So, I guess I'd try replaying your dialogue choices with the Arishok again? Though it sounds like you made the right choices, so it could just be another bug.

What choices did you guys make? I just kicked the Arishok's butt (what are the rules about cursing in this forum?) so I'm sure I can do it again. I'm just worried that not only will I be stuck with the Isabella bug but also have no Isabella...(no Zevran banter during Murder of Crows
Oh also on my DAO I had the foursome (I think actually it was the fivesome) with Isabella, my femCousland, Zevran, Alistair and possibly Leliana. Does anyone know if there is any funny dialogue between Isabella and Alistair if she is in the party when you meet him?

I somehow didn't have sex with Isabela in Origins, though I romanced her this time, but Alistair did say hi to Isabela and mentioned that "she looks different", and she said "don't we all".
As for which choices, I remember saying I remember picking the not knowing where the book is or where she is. Then stringing it along and the Arishok asked "how do you propose to solve this without the relic", and then Isabela came in with the book.

Haha! "By look different, I don't even know how I recognized you."

Did you do her questioning beliefs?
Did you tell the Arishok her name?
I did that....and she came back,

Questioning beliefs never unlocked for me until after she had already left the party, when it was too late to use. When is it supposed to unlock?

^ Questioning Beliefs unlocks for pretty much every companion (except Varric - his is a storytelling one, if I recall) around the time you reach 50% or more in Friendship or Rivalry.
In response to the OP, here's a checklist of everything you must do to have Isabela come back at the end of Act II. See if there's anything you missed:

- Be at 50% or more as a friend or rival.
- Complete her Questioning Beliefs conversation some time after hitting the midpoint. Do this before completing Following the Qun, obviously.
- During her quest To Catch a Thief, do NOT tell Isabela you're taking the relic back to the qunari. Promise her you'll give it to her when they get it.

Interesting, because from what I've read, that doesn't work. Not sure if it's misinformation or a bug. Still, the process I showed will work unless there's a bug at work.

So did I, and she still came back before the Arishok fight, but I also had her at 100% friendship. Maybe there's more than one way to go about this?caradoc2000 wrote...

I promised to help her find the relic, forgave her for stabbing me in the back during the Fade mission, gave her the ship in a bottle gift, and talked her in the Hanged Man.
When I went to the Qunari compound I did not reveal she had the book, and agreed to settle with the Arishok in a duel rather than give him the book. No Isabella. Was I supposed to leave an empty party slot for her to show up?

I told her we were taking it to the Qunari, and she returned even though she was only around 90% friendship.

If her questioning beliefs quest does not start before the demands of the qun quest, she is gone for ever.
It glitched for me and never started until after Isabela had left my party (for good) with the relic. If her QB quest does not for some reason start before the DotQ, there is nothing you can do to get her back.
The internetz has many people saying she's gone before her QB quest starts and she is not at the Hanged Man as the quest log says she should be. I've yet to find a solution anywhere, the DA wiki does not even mention this glitch let alone a fix.
I've replayed the last 3-4 hours of act II trying to get her to stay, but it's never worked. She was going to be the companion I romanced so her leaving for good because of sloppy coding and qa is a poor show. I can't actually be bothered to play act III now.

Ok so I'll try telling her to take the book to the Qunari and see if it works. I'll let ya'll know if it does.

So we need 50% friendship before following the Qun so that we can unlock "Questioning Beliefs." I guess a major part of doing this is identifying the choices that will net you a gain in friendship from Isabella. Can people identify what choices in Act 2 other than a gift and a private conversation will net you friendship points with Isabella? I want to know how early I need to start over.

I suppose you could look on the wiki before the start of every single quest to find out where to get friend/rival points.
I play as a rogue, so there was never any need for another in my party, which equals neutral emotions for Isabela. I did flirt with her and give her a gift but it took me to slightly less friendship than was needed for QB to start.
As far as I'm concerned my game is broken, I'm not re-playing the whole game or even act II. I have 3 glitched quests at the end of act 2, one of which makes a companion that I'd like to romance leave the party for good. I can't have my 'cannon' ending, and I'm not interested in just any old ending. It's over.

The conversation with Isabela doesn't matter. If you have her over 50% friendship or rivalry, and you do the Questioning Beliefs, she ought to return.
#23
Posté 24 mars 2011 - 02:16
Well I had her high enough for her friendship passive but I don't know if I did the QB quest. Can someone tell me about it? I talked to her randomly in the bar so I don't know if one of those random talks might have been it.

Each companion has a 50% friendship/rivalry "chat" quest called Questioning Beliefs. They also each have a 100% friendship/rivalry quest also called Questioning Beliefs. If you have 50+% friendship with Isabela in Act 2, she'll pull you aside and say that she likes you and can get along with you. You'll have an opportunity to flirt with her there as well. If you have a 50+% rivalry, she'll make fun of you and call you boring. Either way, you must complete that quest for her to come back at the end of the act. You can check your completed quest codex for Isabela's Questioning Beliefs quest there.

I had her with 90% freindship and have done QB, she has not come back. Will she come back if i dont give her that relic book?. Will have to load and do this again, but this is annoying. And yes ive also flirted with her on any circumstances that was possible. lol.
PS: high enough for freindship ability bonus thingy.
