Define "run". If you are satisfied with low resolution settings. low image quality, and slow animation, the game can "walk" along at a very sedate pace using hardware as low performance as what you have.  You are also likely to have frequent bouts of interaction failures due to slow graphics system feedback.  Is that what you needed to know?

Minimum
Video Card = 256 MB (with Pixel Shader 3.0 support). Supported GPU Chips: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater(**); ATI Radeon X1600 Pro or greater. Please note that NVIDIA GeForce G.210, 310, 7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7500, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, 9100, 9200, and 9300; ATI Radeon X1300, X1550, HD 2400, 3100, 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, HD 4200, HD 4250, HD 4350, and (probably) HD 5450 are below minimum system requirements. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required. Intel  and S3 video devices are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.

If you are unsure, I recommend to download the demo.

It'll be much more helpful than any of us can be.

X2 on the demo. Unreal Engine 3 needs the framerate in the 20-60 fps range to function correctly. If your framerate is too low, certain parts of Mass Effect 2, such as lock bypass, become unplayable.

Sorry; somehow Demo performances became intermingled in the poor cortex.

In regard to the SR Labs site, the place is an insult to real gamers, it's wrong so often.  Anyone thinking otherwise hasn't been paying attention the past five years.

How does the demo fail? Are any effects toned down, or textures lowered in resolution?

Sorry, I can't recall why I said that. I probably had the DA2 Demo in mind. It's been edited to reflect the situation.

It's absolutely understandable, as DA2 reflected poorly on the release build's performance. I just had in mind that this one was made after the release so it's cut out from that build, which contains the optimization.

I have a graphic card NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 – is that compatible for Dragon Age II (with its suggested NVIDIA 8800GTS 512 MB or greater; minimum NVIDIA Ge Force 7900 GS 256 MB)? Sorry, don’t know much about the different vid cards – and Windows XP keeps crashing on me whenever I try to start up DAII – stating: “A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.” Nice and vague, like that...
Little
help? I know it’s not my processor or RAM as I have plenty...

While I cannot eliminate your GT 220 as being somehow involved in your problem, I don't believe it is the actual "proximate cause".  That doesn't mean your video graphics card is "good", because it is not, but it should TRY to run the game for you.  The GT 220 was the third round in nVIDIA's attempt to hold onto user mindshare when their prices for normal Medium Performance cards such as the 8600 GT, 9600 GT, and the fast-GDDR version of the GT 240 were all priced so much above the equivalent Radeon Mainline cards.

The 8500 GT, 9400 GT, GT 220, and GT 230 are all a class of "Budget" cards better than the very bottom level, such as the truly awful 8400 GS, and the even worse G.210, while still below the performance of a Mainline card.  They are not full-powered for current games, merely "adequate" at low settngs.  The 220/230 were closer to the actual borderline fence between Low End and Mainline than the 8500 / 9400 had been.

Viewing the GT 220 and the 7900 GS side by side, it does appear from what I can see that your GT 220 is above the minimum.  As many generations as have passed between them, this is only a rough appraisal.  You shouldn't expect either higher resolution capability or even Medium Image Quality capability.

Bioware's testing eliminated that one due to its comparative slowness:

Video Card = 256 MB (with Pixel Shader 3.0 support). Supported GPU Chips: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater(**); ATI Radeon X1600 Pro or greater. Please note that NVIDIA GeForce G.205, G.210, 310, 7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7500, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, 9100, 9200, and 9300, also (probably) GT 520; ATI Radeon X1300, X1550, HD 2400, 3100, 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, HD 4200, HD 4250, HD 4350, 4550, and (probably) HD 5450 are below minimum system requirements. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required. Intel  and S3 video devices are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.

There is a better choice for this particular subject:
