A tut on adding a placeable to an area in main campaign?

Can someone please point me to a tutorial on how to add a placeable to an area in the main campaign?

Crag Graff was gracious enough to provide this storage chest add-in ,    And I want to learn how to setup my module to add placeable objects in other areas of the game.

According to one tutorial i read, only 1 mod can do that, so if you make a mod that adds 1 item to an existing location, no other mod can edit that location. They recommended using a script to add the items as you enter those locations instead. Its on the wiki somewhere, sorry i do not have a link but its one of level/area tutorials.

  John Vanderbeck wrote up an excellent tutorial on adding a merchant to his camp site.   You could use this tutorial do what you are asking.

I would like to mod exsisting areas as well.  My mod idea is to add to all of the current areas new material to add new side-quests and make what we have now more robust.  for starters, I would like to add rooms to all of the doors that you cant open.  is this possible?
