from what i understand, bloodmagic works like this: instead of mana, your spells use health. thus, if you have 200 healthpoints, you can cast spells for the equivalent of 400 manapoints (1 hp = 2 mana).
now, equipping gear with "bloodmagic: for each hp you get an additional point in mana" would mean that in above example you could cast spells for the equivalent of 600 manapoints (1 hp = 3 mana).
this leads to: you do not have more life, but you can use the life you have more efficiently.
what i am not sure about is: does this gear stack? can we use 5 items which all bring 1 more point mana for each life? wouldn't that be a little overpowered? cause that would mean that 200 life would be equal to 1400 mana (and 200 life is nothing really, my merill has 200+ at lvl 13)

It won't increase your mana. What it will do is decrease the amount of health used when casting blood magic. Let's say you're casting something that costs 30 mana. If you use base blood magic (which is 2:1) it'll cost 15 health. If you are wearing one item of +1 blood magic, it'll change your ratio to 3:1 and that same spell will cost 10 health.

So it only reduces the cost of health used per cast.
I would assume they don't stack then. Otherwise it would be super cheap if you geared up for it.

They do in fact stack.
A dev confirmed this.
How many items do we so far know of that have this stat on them?
I know of a single staff and 2 rings that have it so far, that is 5 times better than a mana bar, you could cast spells equal to 500 mana using just the base health.

Sweet. I haven't tried Bllod Mage yet, but I know what I'll be doing for my next game.
I think there is almost every piece of gear that has the ability. I'm pretty sure I've seen rings, amulets, staffs, belts, and I think robes.
I'm just not sure about helms, gloves, and boots.

I am running full set of bloodmage armour name Adept. However they cause not count as armour set eventhose all of them are from the same armour. The store in Lowtown will restock their armour and rings. IF you leave to Hightown then return to lowtown.
Anyone can tell me where I can get the belt and staff?

I got a nice blood mage staff for Merril from a merchant in act two from somewhere in the wounded coast I think. Northwest part of the map I think? Around the area where you fought the Tal Va Shoth (yes, I butchered that bad, lol) for the little dwarf in act one for the arishok's blackpowder. It was expensive though, over a hunderd sov I think so save your coin, lol.
I don't think the items stacking is bad really. Not considering you need ALOT of magic and useless willpower just to equip the better armors.
I mean you can't really settle in and pump con full out till late in the game. cuz you are gonna want that good armor to protect your can't heal themselves mage. I hate that. Hurts replayability for me cuz I don't want to spend freaking 3 days of freetime scraping by in acts one, two, and most of three to finally ahhh, that's better, more than halfway through act 3 for a finally decent build. Especially considering this Hawke fool has been at this for YEARS now and they are finally getting the hang of it? Seriously? I'd hate for Hawke to meet my Warden with 7 years of training... oh god, Warden would be a god, lol. Any new arch demons would ****** their pants at the thought of facing that Warden considering the fate of the first one when the Warden was still a noob and just starting their training. hehehe.

Its broken for Merrill since she doesn't need willpower at all and can do a simple 1 magic / 2 con build. This turns her into a secondary tank (specially if you max out stone armor + get her rivalry bouns) with a huge "mana' pool to cast from.

Not really. Merrill doesn't have access to the full blood mage talent pool nor the heal area for any type of party healing or herioc aura. Which was probably the point in not letting have those, lol. Endgame Hawke is still more powerful then endgame Merrill. Just the akward 90% of the rest of the game where Hawke is trying to meet armor req's is where blood mage Hawke is kinda lame, lol. Only way around it is too cheat and force level with that glitch, which sucks.

Or you could spec to spirit healer, use the passive +10 con for a spellpoint boost and invest enough into str to wear warrior armor, then respec late game to wear hot mage armor.
