If you read them, you get two stat points and a quest that never leaves your journal.
If you take them, you get nothing and a quest that never leaves your journal.

Destroy them all, get the quest for the Fell Grimore and read THAT one. Then you can complete the quest.

Yeah. I made the mistake of reading the first one I found (as a blood mage!) and it borked the quest.

... and I thought it was rather fine that your choice to read a book kind of left you with that never-finished quest. The lead up even really warns you.
One of the few choices that had very visible effect.

Help!!!! Can't find the last 2 books. I destroyed the one in the Chantry, the one in the Viscounts Keep and the one in the Darkspawn Caves. Where are the other 2? I may have destroyed 4 already but I can't remember the 4th location.
1 in chantry, 1 in viscount keep, 1 in an unmarked cave in the nothern part of the wounded coast, 1 in the dungeon on sundermount and 1 in an unmarked cave in the east of the bone pit

Well now my party can handle the ass kicking with no problem at all.I didn't know you got a starff if you even destroyed the very last one instead of taking the 2 stat points. But was the staff worth taking? Any Idea on the stats for it?

You get Voracity for killing Xebenkeck. The fight happens if you take the points or not. Should get the staff either way. I did.
(edit: Superdark sped in the exact link ahead of me. Well done!)
