Seriously, I got so board with the drawn out battles I started watching TV and forgot to tend to my party. That’s when I asked myself - "What the h--l am I doing?"

I thought the story was a good one, but just can't get past the battles. Don't get me wrong - they are easy enough to beat, it just gets boring doing the same thing over and over and over again for 10, 15 even 20 min straight. Just watch some of the videos posted by others and you will see what I mean. -ridiculous.Act 1 was ok, not too bad but about half way through act 2 is when the monotony started to build. It is like you all ran out of Ideas so to make the game play last longer you just decided to through in a bunch tedious drawn out battles.

Also, why is almost everyone possessed by a daemon? I am almost disappointed now when a battle begins and no shades or skeleton archers appear whats up with that?

Is DA2 a representation of the lack of motivation, inspiration, and creativity?

Hopefully someday I will stumble through the boredom and finish the game just because I want to see how it ends, but for now it is more of a waste of my time than any enjoyment I get out of it.

What fight(s) in particular do you feel are too long?

ARW can be done quickly with smart burst at the right times.
Arishok can be done as a party if your character is not able to take him one on one.
The High Dragon can be done pretty quickly if you bring frost damage.
Hybris does not take that long, again frost damage helps.
The final bosses do not take that long and are again weak to frost damage.

I'm drawing a blank on other bosses, but after my second play through on nightmare none seem to stick out in my mind as taking more than 10 minutes. Now wiping and rethinking your strategy may take more time but each boss fight can be done within a reasonable amount of time if done right.

ur party is probably too defensive... which isn't good for defense at all anyway.

rouge hawk can kill most enemies in a single attack (and weak enemies in an auto attack). he can tear through bosses with costant 400+ damage ranged auto attacks (which is amazing if followed combined with haste) followed by the occasional assassination (big range of numbers here from 2k to 6k for some reason).

warrior hawk can tear through a group of noramal enemies in a matter of seconds... or can have the rest of the group concentrate on offence for the most part (sword and shiled hawks generally don't need group heal and regroup once you get the hang of it)

Mage hawk kinda sux on nightmare imo, its possible, sure, in fact, its probably just as viable, but perpare for long fights.

I think it appears longer because we are always fighting the same things, demons, shades, etc. It was very boring for me too. Thank goodness, I like the story or else this game would go on the books as one I wouldn't play again.  I was also going to add, continual hordes of the same things.  This game was definitely rushed in development.

I'm not talking about tactics or mechanic's, I am mainly talking about how horde after boring horde keeps coming. For example when finding mother. The mage is untouchable and you fight 3 hordes, one right after the other - Major bore.

Sure easy to defeat, but why not just one horde, then we get to take out the caster. Why must I "rinse repeat" for 5 min?

From a story element I'd say it's because you need to kill a major demon and its minions for each girl that her murdered.

Maybe this is my problem.

I have noticed a very big reduction in damage and movement.

Oh the painful thought of starting over.

I posted this on another thread but it seems I might find an answer to my problem here. My problem is that...The warrior in this game is the crappiest class in DA2. My warrior has 71str 30sta and 31cons plus the armor with 331 or something defense and 167 attack and all of the matching gloves boots and helmet for any bonus. I got a two hand greatsword with around 42 damage 67 per sec I believe, plus 167 or something attack and plus some other benefit which I believe is +4% extra damage. Anyway... I got all that but still, my warrior strikes are just as weak then when I started the game, enemies take just as long to beat if not more, if you're not careful all the time some will drop you in a bit. Some fights even get really annoying when you're fighting an enemy with a health bar even shorter then mine but my strikes doesn't even scratch his health, it's like some fights were made to take long, enemies with the shortest health bar seems to still take two to three attacks with the X button(A button or 360) either that or for every level you up the enemy level five times higher. Please don't tell me my problem is that I'm playing on console... I don't have a PC that could run DA2 or any game.

I tried the file from the Nexus, http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=2299
It seems to have helped. The battles are still boaring with the same old s**t but at least I can do some damge now and get them over with more quickly.

If you're playing on nightmare (not sure if this applies other difficulties) make sure your mage(s) are hitting elemental weaknesses. It makes such a huge difference. They will often do twice to three times more damage.

I do think the boss battles tend to take too long. I'd rather see them be shorter but have more damaging attacks themselves

Seriously? I can't get enough of impalement by Qunari (no not joking it's pretty awesome to watch) and nope the battles are actually not long enough. I was over skeletens in Redcliffe.
