I'm seeing a lot of pendants that give +16 attack and so on.
I play on console, so I don't
use Auto Attack. I remember in origins, attack was just the % of chance that your melee attacks would hit your target. But now in DA 2, every time you press attack, you hit your target.
I haven't seen any of my attacks miss unless my target moves out the way, I don't see how attack chance affects this.
Can anyone clarify what +Attack means?
What does +Attack do?

Okay, so "auto-attack" just means non-talent/spell attacks. Basic attacks. We say auto-attack because we play on PC and we don't have any push-to-attack, but it's the same thing.
Spells and talents never miss. Basic attacks do. Attack affects your chance to hit with basic attacks.
[EDIT] ALSO, you never actually "miss." If you fail your attack roll, you land a "glancing blow" which does 5% damage or so. Your attack stat reduces that chance that you'll fail the attack roll. The higher your attack, the more often you'll deal full damage.

The guide says:
"Your attack score is your chance of successfully hitting an enemy with a basic attack. This takes your attack percentage (derived from your primary attribute) and subtracts the enemy’s defense and displacement percentages (if applicable). Attack scores are also modified against enemies of higher rank (-15% for a lieutenant and -30% against a boss). The final sum is the likelihood of success. If you fail to make your attack, you will strike a glancing blow that does 10% of your character’s base damage."

oh ok, Glancing blow..... Now that would make sense,
Because sometimes my hits do like 3 damage, and the next it does 42 damage and I know its not from a critcal strike.

Yeah, those 3 damage hits are "misses," or failed attack rolls.

increases your chance of landing an attack and not missing
