-- Not sure if this truly qualifies, but being a writer myself, I find it very likely it's an inside joke between the writers. In a  Merrill and Sebastian party banter, they're discussing the Chant of Light.  Merrill ends the banter with the comment, "It's a nice story, but I think it's got some holes."  I can just hear someone in the writing pool saying that.

You should have saw my previous publisher. There we had a saying. "It's a nice hole, but I think it's got story stuck in it".

There was a codex entry which was basically a reference to the newborn popularity of web community sites, urg, that was distrurbing. :)

Am I the only one who got this?

One of Hawke's remarks in the mansion about a book - "Kirkwall Siege - Siege Harder. Varric must be stopped." seems to be a nod to Die Hard (DieHard - Die Harder)

and my suspicions were furthered by this convo with Aveline.

■Aveline: You, Varric, have a very large mouth.
■Varric: And here I've always looked up to you. What is it now?
■Aveline: There were fistfights in the barracks over who is the model for your guard serial.
■Varric: Hard in Hightown. Riveting stuff. Everyone loves a dirty guard on the edge.
■Aveline: Varric.
■Varric: Fine. I'll start his big finish. Three chapters until Donnen Brennicovick retires and opens a tavern on the coast.
■Varric: I sure hope he makes it. He's getting too old for this ****.

The last line ist a reference to detective Murtaugh in Lethal Weapon.

I'm pretty sure that was specifically talking about Twitter.

Man I missed like half of these in the game. :crying:

When you ask your mother about Mages in the Family, and if your Warden was an Amell, she says something along the lines, " Hero of Ferelden is one of us, you know? She's one of my Cousin <insert unpronounceable name here>'s kids who was taken to the Circle back in Ferelden."

-Also, if Alistair stayed with Warden in origins and was romanced by warden, he give Hawke an Amulet, which presumably belonged to warden ( with a very sad face)
Image IPB

-Bodahn, also mentions here of Ferelden, saying that 'she was a fine woman, indeed.'

Alistair has this same dialogue even if the Warden didn't romance him.  (I found this out because he'll say this even if the Warden was male, referring to the old friend as "he".)  I can't figure out if this is intended, or if it's an import glitch and the game thinks Alistair was only friends with my Warden.  :(

Fenris: Who's 'Bianca'?
Varric: My crossbow. Say hello
Bianca!
Fenris: I mean why
Bianca. You must have named her after someone?
Varric: Nope. Mirrabelle was taken.
Fenris: They way you fondle your
weapon is disturbing.
Varric:
Hey! I'm a perfect gentleman. In public.

Someone posted this bit of dialouge in one of the many "funny lines" topics, but I thought it should be mentioned here as an easter egg.

"Mirrabelle" was the name of a gun fighting style you could learn in Jade Empire.

Anyone mention "Three Wolf Boon" yet? My warrior's wearing it :P

I had never heard of "three wolf moon" before trying to look that up... I can only guess that it's a TWM reference...

Edit:
Thinking for a few seconds about this -- I'll probably end up convinced it's intentional. I recognize quite a few battle cries from Origins (plus, Anders uses the exact same ones he uses in Awakening, but that seems only logical), like F!Hawke yelling "That's enough!" and it sounds exactly like Leliana in Origins, or someone (couldn't put my finger on who it was) using Morrigan's battle cries like "Too easy!" in a pretty similar tone.

Yes, she sounds just like Leliana there, also when she yells "Now you fall!"

Okay, I just found the best DAO reference in the game, so far! (Well, in my humble, Alistair loving opinion, that is!)

Final battle, sided with the Templars, talking to Fenris. He warns Hawke that they'll be facing demons and abominations galore, soon. Her sarcastic reply...

"Sounds like it's Tuesday."

I think hearing that beat the squee of the hot Fenris kiss that followed. It's nice to know that Ritual Dismemberment Tuesdays are still alive and well!

Okay, now that I'm done squeeing over the Tuesday thing... moving right along to replies.

@Tashash - Oh, the Die Hard reference is great!  I hadn't noticed that, but you're absolutely right!

ROFL at the publisher thing!  That's just too funny.  I hope to have a publisher (former or otherwise) someday.  LOL

Do you know which Codex Entry or where it was found?  I tried to read them all the first time I played, but as I've said before, I have a terrible memory!

@Pingupower - Ooooo.  I didn't even THINK of Lethal Weapon, but I bet you're right!!

@Anariel - Yeah, the dialogs are bugged.  If you played on the PC you could fix some problems with bad flags (thanks to Awakening imports screwing things up) but even then, some of the dialog isn't triggering properly.

@Avissel - Yeah, I just learned that today, having never played JE.

The One True Pantaloons!

The Velvet Cailan really had me dying. I wanted there to be a codex saying you could turn it over and scrawled on the back were the words ALISTAIR NEVER LOVED YOU

Don't forget the codex that follows, about the Orlesian art collector setting out to get rid of all copies of the Cailan paintings and has been quoted as saying "I despise furry art" =]

I just spoke to Aveline for the first time in Act 1 and heard her say something like "Oh, right. I seems like we just talked." in reply to Hawke not being impressed at Aveline's reaction to seeing her since it's been a year. I just LOVE how they make fun of the time jumps.

@hooray - Oh, now that's funny! I haven't noticed that but will be looking for it in my new playthrough!

@Xrissie - Yes, I love seeing that armor!

This one's rude but it's in the game so... One of the substances that you need to collect for Ander's exorcism is 'sal petrea' which he tells you is made from...

Pee-pee & poo...

So you're running around in the sewers under Dark Town and Anders is saying: "We need to find another deposit" Gah!

Not a spoken reference, but in the Hanged Man there is a picture of Oghren (his concept art) hanging on the wall next to the bar. The spot where Isabela can be found when not in your group.

I saw that picture after someone else pointed it out, but I had no idea it was Oghren's concept art.  That makes it even funnier!

But alas, that was the funny part. :P

It's a bit different from Oghren's concept art from what I can gather, so it's why I was unsure.

Flemeth's first line of dialogue in the prologue is also the same line Morrigan says when you first meet her in the Wilds in DA:O.

I don't know if it's intentional but Isabela's act 2 gift Ship in A Bottle always makes me think of The Lovely Bones because the main character made them with her dad.

When Varric unlocks a chest he'll sometimes say "Easy as pie" and all I can think of is the old dwarf saying in --Baulder's Gate was it--"Easy as goblin pie" I only remember it b/c my ex-boyfriend would say it a thousand times over. O.o

I know this is no easter egg, but... did anyone else wonder why the Warden Alistair came to Kirkwall...?
