Adynata wrote...

When Varric unlocks a chest he'll sometimes say "Easy as pie"

It could also refer to Imoen (also Baldur's Gate), I remember her saying that - quite a lot!

not sure if it was mentioned, but if ever watched Friends, then you'll get a reference if you look out the window in your mansion, Hawke says, " Maker's Breath! put some clothes on, man!"

I laughed real hard at that one XD

At the beginning of Act 2, when you talk to Aveline, Hawke tells her "Who guards the guardsmen?". I think it can be related to "Who watchs the watchmen?" from the Watchmen comic.

I think the quote is actually "You guard the guardsmen." But your point still stands.

Gah, I know I had one but I can't think of it now!Image IPB

Not sure if this has been pointed out, but...

Isabela: Ah, the Black Hand. It combines the essence of twenty-six toxic flowers and the venom of the cobra for that extra kick. Can I have it?

It's a reference to Death's Hand and the Lotus Assassins in Jade Empire.

@Malja - Yeah!  I knew it was Oghren but that it was his concept art makes it doubly funny!

@Speedy - I hadn't thought of that!  OMG I've played the demo at least 3 times and am on my 3rd playthrough.  Does Flemeth really start off with "Well, well, what have we here?"   I'm always too busy being in awe over her hair and feathers blowing in the wind (LOVE that) to pay attention to what she says.  LOL

@Adynata - That's funny about the pie... and probably intentional.

@Dragonette - Ack!  He came for the cheese!  Which reminds me of his comment he makes about stinky cheeses.  Only thing missing was a reference to his hair.

@LT123 - Yes!  I forgot about that loot, too!  Poor Warden.  :(

@Kyle - Yeah, someone said that, which was great because I never saw Friends but knew that comment had to be from something.

@Redsonia - You're probably right about the Watchmen.

@Crooked - Oh that's great!  Again, since I've never played JE, I wouldn't have ever known.  Thanks!

Zevran: "Go ahead and loot the camp. We'll speak when you are done" or something like that.

"I assume you'll want to loot the camp." I laughed so hard; the only thing that could have made it better if he commented on the token rogue in my party used mainly for lockpicking.

That's just because that's who Zev is. He spent a year (if not more) with the Warden who picked up and touched and looted ANYTHING she could get her hands on. I mean there was even a dialog option to ask him to stay at court about how "You could just stay for the loot", cause you know, by the end there my Warden was utterly SWIMMING in gold XD

Zevran knows how adventurers roll.  I love how he'd call you out for that in Origins if you refused his earring.  "We stop to pick up every little piece of junk we stumble across, but you don't want this?!"

Also, a romanced Grey Warden Alistair will make a similar remark.  When he gives you the amulet, he says "This belongs to the love of my life, but she finds stuff like this all the time, so you can have it".  (I think; I've only read this dialogue.  Haven't been able to get it in game.)

Even older than that the original being: "Quis custodiat ipsos custodes" now I have to look for the source...

Juvenal, a friend says...

Oops! Sorry! I play in Spanish, so I get the lines subtitled and even if I hear them in English, sometimes I can't recall them exactly. But I thought it sounded familiar enough to be considered an Easter Egg. Glad you agree

Wow. You learn a new thing each day. I guess they used the same reference in the Watchmen too. Actually I think also Terry Pratchett uses that reference in one of his Discworld's City Watch books, but even that one was a reference too. To Juvenal or to Watchmen, I wouldn't be able to tell...

@Mousestalker - Yes! I love that line! He knows just what Hawke is dying to do!

@leggywillow - I haven't seen Warden Alistair yet... need to do another Origins run for that, but I've heard that's supposed to be in the dialog, although most of the LI dialog is broken, unfortunately.

Your mother mentions Sten murdering the family in Lothering if you talk to her in Act 2.

And not sure if it's an easter egg, but Flemeth only helps you after you kill an Ogre. Same as the Warden.

And I LOVE when you talk to Alistar, he mentions Orlais wanting to take back Ferelden post-Blight. Well, really, Allistar? Bet you wish you had Loghain still around. Instead you had to go into full whine mode and behead him.

I just found a Map of Occupied Kirkwall. Reminded me of one of Loghain's gifts.

@nedpepper - Never thought of the Ogre connection! That's great.

Heh, me too.  I was thinking "oh I could give it to Loghain."  Doh!  Too bad he doesn't get a Grey Warden cameo.

Zevran is well trained.  Image IPB  Loot first, ask questions later.

Does it count that both Isabela and Varric describe the hanged man as "place where everybody knows your name" like in that old sitcom cheers ?
Or that Isabela says "I love big boats and I cannot lie" before attacking you in the fade ?

@Addai - I know! I would have loved to have seen Loghain show up. Although I will confess I was very grateful they didn't do an Anora cameo if she's Queen. And yes, Zevran is VERY well trained. *evil grin*

@Wittand - Yup, both of those count and I love 'em! :)

I only skimmed, but two that I haven't seen...

Guy in the Hanged Man, "You ever feel like you're part of someone else's story? I wish the creator of this story had made me more handsome." or something to that effect.

Also, Varric's banter with Aveline about a story ends with, "He's getting too old for this sh*t." Which is totally a Lethal Weapon (movie(s)) reference.

I know there were tons of others, but that's all I'm coming up with that I haven't seen here already.l

There are way more Jade Empire references here than I realized. It's making me want to play that game again.

After he got knocked out in combat, Anders said "My bruises have bruises," which I seem to recall Alistair saying.

@thenyxie - Yes! I haven't had a chance to stop and listen to that all the way through yet, but I love all the 4th wall references in the game. Loved 'em in Origins and glad to see they tucked some in DA2 as well.

@Danni - Awwww! I try to play injury free games so I don't often hear those lines, but I do remember Alistair saying that! Now I'm gonna have to let Anders get injured a few times just to hear him. LOL

Isabela says "Enemies everywhere!" at the start of combat.
