i'm usually an archer but if i want to kill enemies faster i switch to DW and turn on Speed
just make sure to get useful weapon talents such as archers lance rain of arrows and explosive shot i think is the name and for DW just get backstab and upgrade for it for 100% crit
the rest of the talent points you can spend wherever you want

I start out and Ranged assassinate a lieutenant, then use Fatiguing Fog to generate some Disoriented enemies for my mages.
The instant one of my mages successfully brittles a boss I hit him with upgraded Mark of Death and Hex of Torment, then close in with daggers to Assassinate. This usually one-shots all but the biggest of bosses on Nightmare.
any other high health enemies I hit with Unforgiving Chain and then Explosive Strike as soon as he is staggered by my warrior while mages are casting friendly fire-safe immobilizing spells like Wound of the Past, paralyzing Prison, Petrify, Chain Lightning CCC combos.
I use Backstab or simple Dagger attacks to hop around from enemy to enemy when in melee mode. If I'm obscured, this generates more Disoriented for mages to hit with upgraded Stonefist or Spirit Bolt.
Often I use evade to back out of Fenris's range (he's the most dangerous person on the battlefield for my rogue). Sometimes I move back to where my mages are standing and switch to ranged again for a while.
The most important talent in the entire game for cutting high health enemies down to size is:
- Assassinate + Anihilate + upgraded Mark of Death (did 80% dmg vs Mature dragon in one blow)
- Bloodlust and Devious Harm are also incredibly helpful
- Pinning Shot (Disorienting Shot is bugged, total waste of talent point)
- upgraded Explosive Shot
- going for upgraded Archer's Lance next
- Backstab lets you teleport around
- Unforgiving Chain + Explosive Strike deals insane damage on Staggered enemies
- plan to get Twin Fangs next.
- (haven't tried Lacerate or Twin Fangs)
- Evade is has saved me lots of times
- Pinpointing Criticals + Disorienting Criticals (Predator looks nice but you have to spend 5 points in Shadow to get it)
- Blindside 120% dmg vs enemies attacking other party members
- Upgraded Fatiguing Fog is the best way to reliably DISORIENT lots of enemies (plus it obscures you so your criticals make more disoriented enemies with Disorienting Criticals)
- Rush is helpful for sending low level mobs flying away from my mages
- Stealth and Miasmic Flask are obviously handy in a few situations
- Speed is helpful both ranged and melee

I was using this spec when I was at Orsino after siding with the mages. For fun I decided to equip a bow instead. The only difference between archer and DW was that now I wasn't hitting Twin Fangs, Explosive Strike, or Backstab (which is a waste anyways, its weak). It was a more laid back style of rogue thats for sure.
On a side note, I finally realized why I wasn't seeing the numbers others have been claiming. Its because I wasn't setting up my combo properly. With the spec I mentioned above, I was missing out on +25% crit damage because I wasn't obscured when I Assassinated after applying mark of death and hex of torment.

Absolutely, this is the most fun way to play a rogue IMHO.

on the DW side,

Essentials from other trees:
- Backstab lets you teleport around
- Unforgiving Chain + Explosive Strike deals insane damage on Staggered enemies
