I just finished the game on my first playthrough, and the lead seeker at the end of the game is leliana, which confuses me.  I romanced her on my warden (Dalish) so she apparently left to stay and travel with me, and then after awakening in the epilogue it is also said that she and my warden get back together of a bit, if only rumored.  So then, I ask this, why is she the lead chantry seeker and why can't she find the warden, whom, if my playthrough stands, is the love of her life?  Totaly lost on that one.

edit - aparently I chose the default story rather than uploading my save, but I looked at some other places and it doesn't seem to matter what happened.  Did I miss something?  Heck, im already lost with Flemeth vrs. Old God Baby debates and now the Mighty Sandal debates, last thing I need is to get lost in a Leliana debate.

o, and another thing, what happens if you kill her when you deflie the Urn of Sacred Ashes?  AMG im getting myself lost lol.

It seems she's being set up to play a very important role in the Dragon Age world. That being an expansion pack, or Dragon Age 3.
She's, I guess for lack of a better term "retconned" back to life if she's killed in origins and I cannot explain why she is without her Warden lover. Something else that seems to be saved for the future of Dragon Age.

There's speculation on the forums that she may be related to Andraste, but speculation is speculation. Nothing is concrete until a Bioware rep says so, at least in this regard.

You sure? She didn't have the big metal shoulder pads of leading +2 like Cassandra did.

Which is why I thought Cassandra was her boss when I just saw the screenshot. But then I saw the cutscene. The way they treat one another makes it clear (at least to me) who's in charge.

After all, Leliana was the Divine's "left hand" three years before that interaction.

Yeah I feel like most DA:O characters save a few like Alistair and Isabela got major "retcon" here. Anders, Leliana, Zevran just didn't make sense to whatever ending you had with them.

Anders and Leliana got the worst end of that stick though.

Looking forward to finding out what happened to the warden and Leli later in DA3 =) my current DA:O work is a male warden that romances her. All good things come to those who wait =)

I had to go and find a PC mod just to trigger the half second dialogue where Leli claims she still holds the Warden close to her heart. I won't hold my breath for anything w/ the Warden to ever be resolved.

While I thought that the other "cameos" felt like cameos; Zevran was there for a roll in the hay, Alistair was there to wave and say "See you in DAIII", I immediately thought that the Leliana was something more. Like, not that she's left whatever she was doing in Origins and made her way to Seeker, despite Origins endings. But that she'd been more important all along. Much as I loved romancing her, I'd prefer her to have been with the Warden just for some grander manipulative purpose. That would be cool. In fact, seeing her at the end there made me want to go to the Leliana wiki and read all her dialogue in search of clues.

I doubt she's been with the Seekers the whole time... if so she certainly put on a convincing act in Origins. It's likely she joined the Seekers when she went to visit The Divine during the events of Awakening or when the Warden dissapeared after year 7 in DA2.

Most likely when she visited the new Divine, who is Dorothea from Leliana's Song.

Somewhat amusing compared to the real life equivalent of the Chantry, that the "pope" and her right hand are both sapphists...

I'm sure you're right. But it would be cool.

Also, I was just reading that she was in the Exiled Prince DLC. I didn't have that 1st time through. I just got to the end and was very shocked by her presence. It seemed significant.

I've just had the Leliana scene from the Exiled Prince DLC and my Hawke recognised her name. She said she was with the hero of Ferelden (who she said made a good queen for Alistair) and that then she went to work for the Divine...
