How are people scripting/compiling already?

Can someone please tell me how to export, decompile, and/or compile scripts for DA2?

I can't get the toolset to look at DA2 resources, at all.  I've managed to export a billion oddly-named ncs files, but can't look at them (no nss files), and LDF files, which aren't "really" scripts (though the main one is huge).

I see that Thought Process managed to compile two scripts for Vaddi, but hasn't responded to my message.  I need to get access to spell_singletarget.ncs (which is probably currently named something like [58d9svef0a97sdcasd8a].ncs) to edit spells and abilities -- any ideas?

I'll be bumping this, but I promise it will be worth it.  I'll be modding like crazy as soon as I can get into some scripts :)

He wrote those scripts himself, and used the existing DA Toolset to compile them, with the help of a custom made erf containing the two ldf files you found in the DA2 files.

So the LDF files are easy enough to open, read, edit, etc., with Notepad++, and require no compiling. But...

Is there a way to open NCS files directly with the toolset? Or with anything else? Obviously, he was able to export the files to NCS, but I had assumed that the scripting language was changed a bit for DA2. I would love to start looking through those hundreds of oddly-named NCS files sitting in the designer erfs.

I'm new to the DA toolset, and so working with a couple hands tied behind my back ALSO trying to get it to work with DA2 for me. But I modded the HELL out of Fallout without ever needing Beth's GECK, so I'm not content waiting for Bioware to release a toolset of their own, either. I'm perfectly content working on the frontier, but I need a first step. Tomorrow, I'll be releasing a big ol' pack of mods I've put together, but gda's can only do so much without scripts...

The scripting language has not changed that much, and Thought Process have packed LDF files containing the changes that allow to compile DA2 script using the toolset.

You cannot open NCS (I'm not aware of any existing NCS decompiler for Dragon Age), you have to create your own script.

Where do I get those LDFs? Are they the two in scripts.erf? If so, how do I "add" those to whatever the toolset uses? I may be able to just point to custom scripts for my spells -- what a pain if I can't look at existing spells for templates! :P

Using the DA Toolset to compile scripts for use with Dragon Age 2

Oh God, you're a LIFESAVER. I've been looking around, but must have just scanned past that one.

Thanks so much! :D
