Ok, I've played Origins on hard and there is no doubt that this battle was a REAL challenge to beat, especially considering most of your health and stamina potions are used up fighting the qunari outside the keep. After dying numerous times on this overpowered behemoth, I finally came up with an effective (and time consuming) strategy.
How do you defeat a boss who seems to mutilate half your health with each hit? Dont let him hit you! The bigger they are, the slower they run^_^. s1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff415/reb221/
The strategy goes like this, you get the arishok clipped on one of the columns; he will ALWAYS follow you when you run, use this to your advantage, once the column is between you and him, he will have no choice but to run around the column, this is when you strike!
s1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff415/reb221/
and then attack.

and retreat again.
IMPORTANT!!!
Miasma flasks wont stun the arishok unless they are dead on, avoid them while he's running to you, or he may hit you and even kill you outright!

He will knock you down and hit you again and again, here I swore I was dead but managed to get by with sheer dumb luck
When he charges you, move out of the way and let him hit the wall, then shoot him or use miasma flasks to stun him for extra effect.
I had screenshots of this but print screen decided to take a break for some reason<_<....

Again, It's a simple manner of rinse, wash, repeat, just be careful not to let him hit you.

Good luck, I hope everyone has as much luck as I did with this battle!
Defeating the Arishok as a Rogue; no health or stamina potions? No problem!(simple strategy)

You can also just go shadow, grab decoy, and punch him for like 40 seconds until he moves again. Makes it much shorter since decoy bugs him in place.

True, this was one point where I wish I had invested in that ability

I just chose the "I will not fight you" option, and he says "You will all die" lol. The whole room attacks you but you have your whole party.
I just used Anders, Merill, and Aveline. Did it on the first try. At first I was like OMGWTF lol. The trick is to crowd control the Arishok (like Merill's Petrify) when he comes down and kill off the Qunari mages first. After that I just used Aveline to tank the Arishok until the next petrify. I killed off the spear-throwers upstairs quickly while using Anders to heal the group. Once the Arishok's men are all dead, the Arishok is a piece of cake!![=]](https://lvlt.forum.bioware.com/public/style_emoticons/default/sideways.png)
As a rogue, you should have learnt the skill called Assassinate. It does super massive damage. Use it at the start to kill off the Qunari mages first or they will destroy your whole group!

I quite enjoyed the game until I got to the Arashok fight. I was playing on Normal, had some wipes but generally made my way through ok. Until I reached the Arashok.
This guy just DESTROYS my Sword & Shield Warrior. I even relented & dropped the difficulty to casual. he STILL DESTROYS my Warrior. I tried multiple times & got DESTROYED.
I googled the fight, got some tips, tried a few times more. The best ive been able to do is get him down to maybe 30% Health. This is was a Tank Warrior on Casual mode.
The fight reminds me of that first Orgre fight in DAO, the one which was so hard they had to patch the difficulty down.
The Arashok fight is too difficult for a casual solo player to complete. I wouldnt mind if it was an optional side quest but having an unbeatable boss in the main story? Bad game design.

I had no trouble at all defeating the Arishok as a Rogue. Just attack and fight him from the back.
Rogues rule!

Awesome necromancy.
Also Inconspicuous makes this fight ridic easy really. 20 seconds of no threat gain and he doesnt know you are there? Its just silly.
Also surprised at the lack of mention of the Summon Mabari ability since its practically a free threat magnet to abuse while you backstab like a champ.

Yeah, I forgot to mention the "girl's best friend": Of course I summoned my Mabari - awesome
feature in DA2, better than in Origins.
