bit of an exaggeration eh champ? Last I checked they've only sold somewhere around 1.3 to 1.5 mill (not sure just guessing from when I last heard). Your enthusiasm is delightful though.

it's been over a month and it hasn't done much better. But if the first 2 week sales is all they care about then bravo they succedded.

First month or so sales is what ultimately matters to publishers since the game tends to be at it shighest price and where it can eactually effect things and be in the top 10 games for sales. DA2 was 4th according to NPD losing out to stupid Pokeman.

This is a very small victory, this was preloaded by fans of DAO and EAs idea of "first Day DLC" / Signature Edition. This won't work a second time... DAs future is bleak.

Nah it's the "Team Plasma's battle theme is more epic than anything in DA2". It's relevant because you said DA2 was behind Pokemon and that is probably one reason why.

Hey, Pokemon's a juggernaut of a series. Since it debuted it's been raking in the sales. Kids love it. There's no shame in being beaten by a titan of sales, regardless of its questionable quality.

As for the discussion I'm interrupting, this thread has sales figures. A few posters say VGChartz can't be trusted but I have no idea about them.

I know about Pokeman's popularity. Of course, DA2 lost to it. As did DA1.

Problem with vghchartz is their 'research' is equal to calling ia handful of individual stores and using guess work to multiply that by number of stores or some other such nonsense. It also doesn't count online sales either.

I only feel sorry for those within BioWare who opposed the direction into bland nothingness the franchise has taken but didn't want to lose their jobs.
This just shows, that it takes only a few people to screw up large colaborations.

They are often decent at showing trends, and with DA2 were probably rather accurate (it being a lucky accident or not).

Or when EA/BioWare went out said that 1Million copies had shipped VGchartz was close behind.


And they are open with that they don't count online sales, and often will they ingore PC sales since they seem to have a harder time getting good data. I assume the online sales part is simply due to them not getting data from GoG/DtD/STEAM etc.



@TJSolo : aye, so should be decent most of the time, at least if they get information from enough places.

That does sound similar to how Gallup works.

In order to cite something I've been googling for information. I can't get solid numbers for March, NPD just lists it as fourth best selling software in March. They have numbers for the two Pokemon games but that's it.

I'd love to know what examples from either DA:O or DAII accumulate in making the whole franchise labelled 'bland'.
And how do you know about Bioware staff objecting to anything - do you have personal contact with them or did members of Bioware release statements saying so?

Origins ONLY sold like 50 million copies.
