Title says it. Want to respec outta Force, but the 100% fort is a must for the mage.. any items or specs i'm missing. Just starting chap 2, so if there is a ring/trinket out there that does it would be nice..
Anyway to make boost mage fort without Force Magic?

Heh... Well.. Get strength? Not really a great option I suppose.
IIRC there's a pretty expensive ring/necklace in the Black Emporium that grants immunity to knockback. Honestly though, I got by just fine with my Mage being thrown around the place everywhere. It's really annoying, and can get him/her killed if you're not paying attention.. but more than doable.
Anyway, Black Emporium is the only place I can remember finding something like that.

There's knockback immunity ring for sale by the nexus golem too. That's not quite the same as the force mage's bonus though.

Plus the "Ring of the Ferryman" is immunity to stun. I think the Trevinter Merchant sells that in Act 3. Cost like 109g if you wanna save for it.
It also gives you +2 Magic, +9 mana/stam regen rate, +24% Fire dmg, +24% Electric dmg.
With those 2 rings combined you'll probably be ok. Also Rock Armor will help. There are other rings that boost fortitude, but nothing with high numbers.

I'm currently playing a blood mage/spirit healer. The main stats needed are magic and constitution.
Which means that for using armor I have the option of adding willpower (for robes) or strength (for plate). Willpower has no secondary benefits beyond enabling me to use robes whereas strength provides additional fortitude in addition to enabling me to use plate armor.
The combination of high strength (currently low 30's), a large health pool and using lots of sustainables (mainly rock armor) means that knockback really been a problem - in fact I can't think when I last got knocked back/down outside of unavoidable abilities from some bosses.
While the spirit healer abilities aren't amazing, they aren't bad either. I get a good group heal (I can easily switch on healing aura from it), +10 constitution and +100 health regen, a group rez and nobody in the party suffers injuries. Although it does take 6 points in spirit healer to get all of these benefits.

I think the Hawke mage is the best healer in the game. So my favorite playthrough is my current one, where Hawke is a full Spirit Healer with the +100 Fortitude from Force Mage. The character I control is Fenris -- or sometime, Varric -- though. The (bugged) regen is simply insane ...
