I hate the Featherhead, but I wouldn't mind it if they made a choice between Mako and Featherhead in ME3 for those who like the other vehicle.

Well on vehicles with a turret that rotates independently from the main body, the only acceptable controls for me are ones where the orientation of the turret does not change which key does what as far as movement goes. An example of a system I don't like is the Scorpion in Halo Reach; if I hold the LS forward and rotate the turret 180 degress, forward now takes me backwards. Sure the controls for the Mako weren't the most finely tuned, but in my eyes it is instantly better than any control scheme that uses the above mentioned method.

Uh, Mako shared the EXACT SAME controls as the Scorpion in Halo Reach. The Warthog's system made more sense where Up on Analog stick= Always drive forward. Mako should have had that instead.

To the OP

Do not mine, it's so unbelievably boring. DO NOT mine.  Just edit the coalesced.ini and give yourself 1mil of each resource. Then pretend mining doesn't exist. Just scan a planet for like 1 second and then move on.

planet scanning almost made me uninstall the game, but I chose to just edit the coalesced.ini instead.

Scanning sucks but it sucks for about 1 minutes per planet. Mako sucks and sucks for about 10 minutes per planet. no planet scanning > MAKO just because of the smaller time allocation.

The problem with that argument is that you can't just blow off mining the way you can blow off all UNC missions in ME1. I thought that was actually a good thing in ME2, since Shepard has an RP reason to be doing this stuff --if you buy the silly research and resource setup in the first place, of course.

Should whatever they do in ME3 be fully optional, or integrated into the game? I personally prefer the latter, but that does mean that every player's going to be stuck doing it whether or not he likes it.

I prefer optional. I loved the Mako and everything you could do with it, but that doesn't mean everyone does.

With options, people who enjoy it could do the missions, and people who don't can avoid them.

If its mandatory because its linked to upgrading things or its ACTUALLY mandatory due to the story, then that flat out sucks.

Like I said, I haaaaaate mining compared to The Mako. I want my ride back.

Better that we have more options rather than be stuck doing something because we have to.

Optional please, I hate mining. I just gave up on it after a few playthroughs, it was sooooooo boring. I'd rather be tasked to drive a mako over a very very very steep mountain range for 5 hours, seriously.

Funny thing is, I never had a problem driving the Mako to a destination.

The mountains were never really a problem. Especially since there was usually a way to get to the target area without going over them.

I just mine the minerals from the worlds in the systems surrounding missions as I go along. I only probe for it when the material is high on the detector.

Of course after finishing ME2 so many times I have a cheat list of all the side missions to make it a step easier. There's really no point in visiting every single system and every single planet after you've gotten that achievement. There is especially no point in sucking all the worlds dry of their minerals.

That's when it becomes a chore worse than driving around the worlds in the mako and trying to find them. Just build up a surplus as you go along the main story and missions and save the probes for highly detected minerals. This will help save on your credits and fuel to boot.

I try to keep the total amount above 50k. When I carry over a Shepard, there is the auto 50k so I try to aim for almost 100k off the bat as I'm collecting the first 4 squad mates, with the exception of eezo. I don't usually end up using the minerals still I pop in that second disc and get the crews upgrades. By then I have enough stored up I hardly ever have to mine for the rest of the game.

Mining is simple and quick for me.

It's easy, you just close your eyes and think of England.

The first 4 times I played the game, I did extensive mining, really didn't like it, but it wasn't horrible. Now I just use Gibs and edit my save to give myself 4 million credits, 1000pt of para/rene, and 600,000 minerals each. I can play the game as I please, and don't worry about money or mining ever again.

Bought the game on PS3 for my son, and ick...hated having to mine again, so I just play on PC and he plays on PS3.

Well you couldn't wholly blow off the MAKO and the moon patrol aspects to it because it was used on most of the plot planets plus while the UNC are optional if you skip them the game is < 10 hours long so they're not meant to be flavoring.

They need to avoid the vehicle stuff. They haven't implemented it well and it is bound to suck downa  ton of resources plus it is 100% pure action game fluff because there's no role playing stats driven elements other than some teeny healing bit in ME1.

Amen Sidney. The vehicle stuff has to go. There is nothing RPG or Action about it. The only RPG aspect is the idea of grinding, which I guess to RPGer's is like hazing in fraternities.

How can anyone enjoy scanning? Thankfully GibbedSaveEditor saved Mass Effect 2.
