Ok, after some extensive testing with the console, surprisingly, I found the best combination was shadow/speed, and duelist/speed came in second (all with heroic aura, of course).
Shadow/speed requires the most points dedicated into dex to reach desired hit/crit rates on bosses, but makes up for these points that could have gone into cun with pinpoint precision and disorienting criticals. Needless to say, with all this dex, the base damage is also higher by about 10 points. Shadow/precision requires fewer points into dex, but will attack more slowly.
Shadow loses vendetta, but gains better threat management with decoy and inconspicuous...
I think shadow/speed goes best with the flavor of the rogue archer, as well.

This applies only on bosses for anything but a boss speed > precision
I did the lvl 25 math for both and unless you are duelist/assassin precision edges out speed in pure damage improvement because of the 95% attack soft cap on bosses.
All those tests are done with improved heroic aura:
Main problem with speed is the huge loss of stat potential by raising dexterity above 40 (without gear bonus). 40 +17 from gear is all you need with precision to get 100% atk vs boss.
Without precision you need 64 +17 dex to reach 95%, that's 24 points of stats that you could put elsewhere.
duelist/assassins can pretty much ignore dex outside of gear requirements and just build for 100 cunning

Still sounds like precision would be more useful for most of the game when you lack the high stats or kit to overcome enemy defenses regularly.

Truthfully speaking, these builds late game are pretty similar...
With the testing that I was doing (to level 25)...
speed/duelist : 141 displayed dps/+292% crit damage (99% hit for bosses)
speed/shadow: 152 displayed dps/+271% crit damage (+25 more for disorienting criticals, ~90% hit for bosses)
Precision might have higher numbers, but will attack more slowly.

Precision is most likely better. For rogues, once you get hit capped and crit capped, Dexterity is subpar compared to Cunning for increasing damage. Especially once you take the Devious Harm talent.

It's so hard looking for the right Archer build.
There are so many.

Attack is an incredibly strong stat for anyone that does a lot of damage from auto attacks. The less glancing blows, the more DPS.
