Sadly, my 360 got the red rings after four long and amazing years. I had bought many of the DLCs for ME2 (LotSB, Kasumi, Overlord). I'll be buying a new 360 in the next few days (Arrival ftw) and was wondering if anyone knew if I would have to buy all the previously purchased DLC again. I'll be keeping my hardrive.
Time for a new Xbox, rebuy DLC?

As long as you use the same account name on the new Xbox 360. you will be able to re-download all of your previous purchased/downloaded content.

You'll need to go through the painfully long and tedious process of license migration on the Xbox live website. But as the person above me mentioned, you'll then be able to access all your previously downloaded content as if it never left your side.

Tedious? I found that it was rather easy. (compared to the previous option of having to stay connected to live)
Also, if you know someone with a transfer cable, use that. It is 10x easier than re-downloading (and quicker)

^ just to add, since the data stays on the HD, only migrating the licenses to the new console is necessary.

I am happy to find this thread. My Xbox did a 'Red Ring' several months ago, and I freaked out. It hasn't done it since, but I decided just to be safe I'm going to buy a 120 360. So that'll be good.

Just done the same thing. What I did was just buy a new xbox machine and keep my hard drive. Once i started up on the new machine, I deleted all games installed and re-installed them. I then did the same with dlc.
Once you have deleted your dlc, you can just simply download it again. Live will say, you have paid for this content, would you like to download again.
You seem to get two licences with every game or dlc. One for your gamertag, one for your xbox.
Once I had re-installed all my games and dlc (i play games from h/d, seems smoother and no punishment for disks) evrything was fine. All saves were ok, content accessible, and my son could play on his gamertag again. Once the hassle of re-installing is done, all is fine. No costs.
