As noted above, such things did exist prior to professional counselors and scientific counseling theory.

if Hawke leaves kirkwall, she can travel with Bodahn & Sandal keeping their merchant cart clean & organised. or any other of Hawkes friends, head off to the dalish, go next door to the aaronbergs

Orana is the creepiest elf I've ever seen. However, I will always take her in and pay her. I just couldn't bring myself to let her go off on her own. Plus I enjoy shaming Fenris after he crabs at Hawke for slavery and s/he responds with "I'm giving her a JOB."

I'm kind of scared at the amount of threads I'm seeing all over the 'net where people are asking "What can I DO to my Elven Slave?". Yes, not what can she do... no no, what can they do with/to her. I was trying to google up her name and I kept finding these threads in random game forums with complaints that the companions take too long to romance and "sexing this elf chick" would be "so much better".

So yes, apparently its not bad enough you can keep her around as a slave but they want her as not only maid but also their personal toy.

That's good. The dialogue Fenris gives after giving her money always made it seem like she was going to end up robbed before she made it to town.

I always give her the job at the hawke estate.However she freaks me out.
The way she acts with you , calling you "mistress" makes me feel very unconfortable.
I wish there was a option to tell her "please call me hawke "...

I never thought about giving her a job before. Now I see it is probably the best option. She has been a slave forever. She has no idea how to live on her own. Just letting her go with some gold isn't going to help her. She'd probably just fall in line again. At least having her work for you means a home, a job, food, everything.

I wouldn't say she's damaged, she was perfectly happy working for whatserface until Fenris and co. stormed their hideout. She's just been conditioned to work for free, it's probably all she's done for her whole life. Besides, she's super grateful if you offer to pay her or give her gold and tell her to start over. Surprised, but grateful.
