His joke about dreaming of the Grand Cleric being naked was one I've just encountered, there's still some of the old Anders in there.

I thought it was kind of silly that Varric had the line in Act III, "You're no fun anymore." ...When was he ever?

I didn't think new Anders was funny at all. Whenever he briefly attempted humor it didn't come off as sarcastic wit, he just sounded needlessly insulting (like the thing about Wesley and about Sebastian's armor).

This
Anders was not funny to me at all. As all the other NPCs mention on how much he harps about being a mage and the plight of mages any attempt at humor he makes just comes off as some sort of spiteful remark. Anders was like Alistair in DAA without any of the whining, but in DA2 he is Alistair with whining turned up to max and then some to compensate, effectively making him my most liked and most disliked character of the series.

It goes a bit beyond reasonable however to completely 180 a popular, funny and endearing character like Anders :(I really loved him in Awakenings and now I can't even look at him the same.........DiscipleofUranus wrote...
People change, would have been a bit boring if he was a copy and paste from what we had in Awakenings

Ah, yes................ how we lol'd. I remember thinking at the time ''Why doesn't Hawke turn round and say - you know what Anders, we'll look back on this someday and laugh''leggywillow wrote...
He's still funny! Remember that time he blew up the Chantry? His most hilarious practical joke yet!

I liked the Anders in DA2 better the one in Awakening was just a clone of Alistair and he's much better when he has his own individual personality.
I agree with this to an extent- while I did end up liking Anders in the "big picture," he initially annoyed me terribly in Awakening because A) I felt that blatantly replacing the personality of Alistair (who I liked a lot and was sad to see not remain a companion in DA:A) was his sole purpose, and
But as I said before, considering the chain of events and his personal storyline, I think DA2 Anders makes perfect sense and is well done.
