I am looking for some advice on what spells are good against Meredith. I am playing Hawk as a mage.  I have merrill, in addition to Aveline and Varric. But I couldn't take Meredith down.

Appreciate all suggestions

all spirit an cold spells work well.

winters grasp
spirit bolt
walking bomb
horror

also sustained spells help a lot.
heroic aura, haste and elemental waepons with orsinos spirit staff do fine for melee chars

If you're a force mage then Gravitic Ring is sweet.

Petrify would probably help too. I'm pretty sure my mage was using it on her, don't remember if she ever actually got "brittle" but it held her still for a few seconds at least, lol But I think my mage was just on normal for that fight, I kind of just wanted it to be over with, lol, so higher difficulties might not be able to use that on her.

I finally finished my DW rogue last night though on hard and I know I saw Merril landing petrify's on the statue things so at the very least you can petrify those on hard, lol. Merril's set to petrify anything that attacks me, lolz.

make as many characters as possible immune to stun. I had 3 and when meredith starts monologing (that fatal flaw of villains and evil overlords everywhere) they hacked her to tiny bits.

People have already mentioned some good ones... Hex of Torment is also good for any boss (-25% damage resistance).

I also find Unshakable from Force Mage to be invaluable, no matter what you're fighting.

There is a point in the battle she stuns everyone and gives a speech. If you have equipment or abilities that give immunity to stun, you can get in a ton of free hits.

Honestly I find your mage is better off just healing people and keeping everyone up. Given the amount of support you have helping in that fight burning Meredith down is not a logical strategy.
