I read that some people can't seem to get enough money during Act 1, so I decided to start a Normal gameplay to see how much I got at which level. I didn't note the quests done in the beginning, sorry about that.

The only two things bought was at Level 6. At the end I ended up with 79 Gold, so the Tome sold by the Black Emporium and the sword sold by Lem can be bought whenever you get the funds for it, too.

Money indicated is what's in my pocket just before upgrading to the next level.

Hope this helps!

(In any case, you can always pick up the loan from the dwarf.)

I had such high hopes when I clicked this thread. No +enemies drop more coin items? No Runes of Fortunes? No direct path to 2 lyrium 2 Silverite asap so you can craft more RoFs? Guess its another guide I'll have to write myself.

nice try though....

Do the +loot/coin items stack?

Do they need to be worn by the character checking the body? Or the character who killed the enemy? Still work if some other member of the party wearing them?

Do they affect loot in chests?

Do it, please. I'm tired of idiotic accusations some people throw at me for using addmoney script for my solo walkthrough (mainly testing purposes, I never buy/use unrealistic stuff). Despite some good authoritative defense I got from Luke Barrett, who says 50 g at level 6 is attainable (and he surely knows his stuff), I still feel a money-making guide would complement my walkthrough nicely. It's just one aspect of RPGs that never fascinated me much, so I prefer not to bother: I know you people will eventually find ways to make a lot of gold :)

There are already some posts about this with such information. You can google "runes of fortune" with bioware social and it does a pretty good job.

To summarize, both runes of fortune and +enemy coin items stack. You can have more than a single rune of fortune on the same item and see more coin- this is easily checkable by having two shields (one with 1 RoF and another with 2 RoF) and checking a loot pile with coins.
A note about checking the loot- the game assigns a coin drop on death of an enemy or entry to an area (for chest, crates, etc), but doesn't assign the multiplier (level and RoF/coin items I assume) until you actually interact with it.
So, save after a fight or before you check a crate- if it has money in it, reload and item swap to your hearts content.

From my experience, RoF's and items do not need to be on the character who checks the loot. I haven't been OCD enough to locate a crate, check its value, and then try swapping items out on a character who will not be in my active party, but someone could do it, I suppose...

My experience was on the PC version, for clarities sake.

Edit: Regarding money obtained in Act 1, I was able to obtain around 125 prior to the Deep Roads on my first run. I did get Aveline the Bulwark sheild with 3 RoF's as soon as possible, and also sold potions constantly.  I like to think the game is rewarding you for not using potions by constantly making them available.
Depending of difficulty, the game will add potions up to a given number to the loot drops. I played on hard, so the game would increase the chance of potion drops (the basic ones) up to 8 total.

Edit2: Regarding RoF's, I'm pretty sure you can get the raw materials by doing the quest that gets you Merrill, Blackpowder Courtesy, and exploring the Bone Pit (no need to kill the thing at the end to get the raw materials). You can do that first thing in Act 1 should you wish.

Selling potions can be a pretty good source of cash. With no potions in your inventory, pretty much everything you can loot will drop a potion which sells for 3-4 silver.

It adds up pretty fast, but its a huge pain running to the shops to sell all the time.

You can farm the potions in lower city at nighttime and put them in your chest in Gamlens house. Its an good way to stock up on potions for harder solo fights.
